- I still think we need something higher than 25% as that allows no strategy really. They should have:
5 lap
10 lap
35%
50%
Possibly 75%
100%
But I know this is a lot of coding for cm to do for ai, and with that more issues. - Ho3n3r4 years agoNew Veteran
75% was the go-to for me when F1 2010 came out - mainly because 50% barely felt like a race, but 100% made career mode too drawn out.
I used to play Grand Prix 4 a lot - even up until 2020 when I got a wheel which isn't detected within the game - and that even had a percentage slider for race length. Wanna do a 30% length championship - feel free! How about 83%? Sure, go right ahead! 59% you say? Yup, you can do it!
Amazing that a game from 2002 could allow you this level of freedom, yet it's a pipe dream 20 years later. But looking at some of the seemingly basic issues F1 games have faced in recent years - some bugs being carried over for 5 different iterations - it's hardly surprising. I assume there is a huge level of code fudging going on in the background which is probably a mess to sort out in less than a year.

But I know this is a lot of coding for cm to do for ai, and with that more issues.I mean, i've been playing F1 games since F1 2005. Only started coming into these forums since F1 2020 and I've seen numerous of posts of people complaining about lots of things, however I always defended codemasters because I understand the amount of work they have. But now, I can't defend at all anymore. Even though the game for me doesn't have all that amount of bugs and glitches, like crashing all the time or tecpro barriers launching the car to oblivion, it's just that the glitches and bugs that were present in older games, and some of them patched, still appear in future games. It's like I make a mistake in a test, understand my mistake and then make the same mistake in a different test. If they already corrected before, how can they still have the same problem? How can they don't even have the sector colors showing? And even if they have, how can a licensed game have a red sector color instead of yellow? And this comes to my point, if a company has a license of a sport, maybe they should be able to at least have the basics right. Wrong sector color (red instead of yellow), wrong managing of tires in a race weekend (1 medium in the race, when we're supposed to have 2), missing red flags (something they had till F1 2014) and driver transfers not making any sense (drivers academy not having any impact) and these are just some examples. For CM/EA, it should be embarrassing to not get these basic things right and they should start to, literally, up their game because like this, this game has no future.
- @Ho3n3r Yep I had the original gp game on amiga and still surprised how f1 games can't keep up to the same standards with features etc. Maybe it was simplier back then with physics ai etc.
