The F1 series online experience isn’t good enough and hasn’t been for many years. Imo without a strong online experience the AI need to be near perfect, and again I’m not disputing how hard that is.
The F1 AI is great when it comes to attacking/defending, especially this year it’s actually a challenge when overtaking but to have game breaking advantages is a deal breaker with the AI no matter how many positives they have.
We are talking of AI here, the fact that other titles can or not have better online, or that they can prefer to undergo the AI to focus more into other aspects doesn't change the reality of the situation.

Nobody heard of Geoff Crammond's F1 games since we are talking about AI here? The guy was a legend in programming AI for his game and you are going to tell me that in 2022 no one can't do a top quality realistic AI for a racing game or it is too hard? I call that BS.
My bet is that these Publishers/Developers don't want to hire experienced professional programmers that know their stuff in AI programming etc. A lot of these top programmers are very smart with PhD's in Physics in some cases. It's all about the $$$$, good quality experience programers cut into the companies profit margin.
This is not new news, it's been like this for a couple of decades now and not just for racing games, sports game and other games that require decent human behavior AI is severely lacking in today's games. A lot of these AAA game companies hire much less experience programmers coming out of college for so little pay/money or they outsource from other places/countries. So, as the saying goes, garbage in, garbage out unfortunately.

It is crazy how many people think back of the great Grand Prix Series, also in other Forums. Those games are still competetive when it comes to gameplay,if not still better. I started with GP2 back in 1995. I still like to watch YT Videos from those games. Sick how a series which is 20 years old still has better Features than actual games. I think this would be a nightmare for EA uf GP5 would be announced. Pure racing game,no Shops or anything. Like in the good old days.

The original Grand Prix is what got me into race games… was bonkers out off nowhere full grid off 26 cars where 8 used to be maximum for race games back then. And the 16 tracks that for the time groundbreaking.
On your point off physics and phd’s etc. totally agree although back then games didn’t actually have a ai. So most games used in-depth head exploding maths.
I had a ww2 strategy game called war in Russia. It had every single unit type. That made up hundreds off divisions to move around the map. As it was turn based when you ended your turn. It would show the working and it took every thing calculate, moral, weather, terrain, supply, and even likelyhood off partisan activity. At once it was done I never felt as though I’d been robbed by a ai cheat or script. And yes current strategy games have that now but they use cheats and scripts whenever they can’t resolve a problem.
And I promise you that’s how the ai in this game will be fixed. (Cheap unsticky plaster)
last year I’m sure some off the tracks they didn’t adjust ai cornering speed because they decided although ai are fast in this or that corner. It didn’t need to be addressed because they were slow in another corner. What’s that. Hmmmm ahhh two wrongs or something. And I actually feel for @DavidG53 because he’s obviously worked his pert firm behind off to deliver a great handling model(he acknowledges it still needs a tweak here and there) but no one playing single player careers modes can get to fully appreciate as we are all over driving the 💩 out off our cars or opting for extreme setups in a bid to thwart the ai.
