@F1GUZMAN wrote:Nobody heard of Geoff Crammond's F1 games since we are talking about AI here? The guy was a legend in programming AI for his game and you are going to tell me that in 2022 no one can't do a top quality realistic AI for a racing game or it is too hard? I call that BS.
My bet is that these Publishers/Developers don't want to hire experienced professional programmers that know their stuff in AI programming etc. A lot of these top programmers are very smart with PhD's in Physics in some cases. It's all about the $$$$, good quality experience programers cut into the companies profit margin.
This is not new news, it's been like this for a couple of decades now and not just for racing games, sports game and other games that require decent human behavior AI is severely lacking in today's games. A lot of these AAA game companies hire much less experience programmers coming out of college for so little pay/money or they outsource from other places/countries. So, as the saying goes, garbage in, garbage out unfortunately.
The original Grand Prix is what got me into race games… was bonkers out off nowhere full grid off 26 cars where 8 used to be maximum for race games back then. And the 16 tracks that for the time groundbreaking.
On your point off physics and phd’s etc. totally agree although back then games didn’t actually have a ai. So most games used in-depth head exploding maths.
I had a ww2 strategy game called war in Russia. It had every single unit type. That made up hundreds off divisions to move around the map. As it was turn based when you ended your turn. It would show the working and it took every thing calculate, moral, weather, terrain, supply, and even likelyhood off partisan activity. At once it was done I never felt as though I’d been robbed by a ai cheat or script. And yes current strategy games have that now but they use cheats and scripts whenever they can’t resolve a problem.
And I promise you that’s how the ai in this game will be fixed. (Cheap unsticky plaster)
last year I’m sure some off the tracks they didn’t adjust ai cornering speed because they decided although ai are fast in this or that corner. It didn’t need to be addressed because they were slow in another corner. What’s that. Hmmmm ahhh two wrongs or something. And I actually feel for @DavidG53 because he’s obviously worked his pert firm behind off to deliver a great handling model(he acknowledges it still needs a tweak here and there) but no one playing single player careers modes can get to fully appreciate as we are all over driving the 💩 out off our cars or opting for extreme setups in a bid to thwart the ai.

@BadMayh3m I didn’t know how to do it until my 12 year old daughter showed me. Step by step. More than once😀

the AI slider seems to mostly change how soon/late the AI brake for corners, but they always seem to get the perfect exit no matter what. Why can’t the exit have some similar “multiplier” such as a variable delay on time to max or ramp on the amount of throttle, maybe a random amount of under/over throttle (wheelspin), or even a just lowering the amount of grip by some amount corresponding to the slider? Something that works based on corner type rather than having to tune it for every track - would it be that hard?

I really hate that the standard in video games these days is release a half made lump of * and patch it to a full game during the year. There should be laws against this *

@ScarDuck14Its ok......do wish some people understand that I simply dont know how to DO IT!
Biggest problem Xbox doesn't give me the url.Oh right, here's the video then. The relevant bit is from about 3:30 but it's actually Alex Gillon who is the real source of the info. which makes rather more sense.

Agreed. People need to stop pre-ordering games if they want to try to make this change.

I don’t generally watch Alex Gillian.as I think his content appeals to the modding mob. But that’s the reason you can’t dismiss what he says. Don’t think anyone knows the inner workings off the game better than him… Not even don @Meza994 👍
Allrhough he was way off the mark when testing last years camera angles and thought it wasn’t fov that help reduce lap times but turning off camera vibration. 🙄 silly billy

Alex does try to understand the details of the game sometimes but it's very rare he'll actually run a mod. The likes of Aarava and Tiametmarduk do so far more.
I like Alex. He manages to be entertaining to watch without feeling the need to occasionally behave like a 10 year old....

@Ultrasonic_77 Aarava and Marduk(who is actually alright) we’re obviously some of the you tubers who immediately pop up when you search for the game. And aarava does know my team. His tip video for starting a my team career is the same advice I’d give. Obviously he should as it’s his bread and butter. And it’s entertaining how wrapped he gets in the immersion and fantasy. But now I skip past his videos. Clickbait and to wait as long as he did before raising the games issues. Just before the patch which everyone knew was coming at anytime. Then post a video claiming it because off him.
Ignore me. Hung over and grumpy
