Logitech G920 Drive Force Shifter issue on F1 2021 game set up

Hello,

I am new to this forum. I am not a gamer - so a novice. I have recently purchased a xbox series X for my 9 year old son's birthday.
I have a two racing games, F1 2021 and Horizon 5. I also have a Logitech G920 steering wheel, pedals and the Drive Force Shifters. When playing the F1 game I can't set it to shift the gears with Logitech shifters, it doesn't seem to pick up the shifters. I can configure to the paddles or any of the buttons on the controller.

However on Horizon 5 game, I can configure this to automatic, manual etc and use Logitech shifters to change gears.

My question is - why can't I do this in the F1 2021 game? is this a limitation on the game and only the paddle shifters on the steering wheel work - like real F1 Cars?

Can someone please help explain if this is a limitation or if I am doing something wrong?
