Make the AI react to tyre temperatures

Ive suggested that in multiple side notes in the old forum but i think Imola showed why this is especially needed for F1 22.

As the tyre blankets are now only heating up the tires to 70° but the tyre window for perfect grip is still likely above 85° we could see especially in Imola how drivers struggled with the cold tires. Best example being Leclerc who was then swiftly overtaken by Perez on warm tires in an unusual overtaking spot.

This would have been less effective in the dry but still was a topic all season and having the AI storming every outlap while we struggle for grip would be a real problem!

To do this shouldnt be too difficult either as the AI is properly reacting to changes to the tyre grip when they wear out and all it would take is letting the AI take the value that dictates their actual grip just after the temperatures multiplier changes the grip.

For example:

Currently its like: Tyre grip X wear grip = AI grip

Could easily be: Tyre grip X temperature grip X wear grip = AI grip.

Shouldnt really take a lot of programming just shifting the point it takes its value from

Of course this requires a look at the (hopefully improved) tyre pressures in order to find a middle ground so the AI has generally neither overheating nor cold tires, no matter the track. Ideally we would have track temperatures play a big role but hopefully they play a small role (pleaseeee?) but as it requires extra AI programming so they adapt their tyre pressures to the temperatures that are forecast (potentially changing them with each pitstop too😃) i have no hope of big changes for that this year.. But it would be great!

But yea in short, we need the AI to react to the tyre temps and its not too difficult!

I would guess that the AI always having perfect tyre temperature at 92deg is caused by one of the following reasons:

    a) It takes too much computing power to simulate AI tyre temperature

    b) The AI is not programmed to be able to "fairly" handle high or extremly low tyre temperature -- being either to fast or to slow / error-prone

I am still on the edge whether I should just go to game settings and change tyre simulation to "surface only" instead of "surface + carcass". That way, you get pretty much the same behavior as the AI has, except you are even a little quicker on outlaps I think because the AI do start with 70* tyre temperature, though it goes up much faster (this is just scripted behavior, not simulated). But this might be mittigated by the fact that you still simulate surface temps, I guess the AI also do not simulate these (but cannot prove that).

But on the other hand it takes a feature out of the game that I would like to have in there, having to manage tyre temperature seems very important to me for realism. But considering that once you set the correct tyre pressures, you pretty much do not have to worry at all about them for the entire race (except for formation lap and out laps / safety car restarts).

Currently though, I am using broadcast mode on safety car and formation lap, which always puts you on level with the AI or at least close. Same goes for flying laps vs. driving the out lap yourself. You are actually at a significant disadvantage when in Qualifying, you choose to drive the outlap yourself, because the tyre temps will be at least 6-7deg lower than when choosing flying lap, no matter what you do.

This also gets rid of the unfair pit stop outlap advantage the AI have, so it might be a thing to consider, if you are happy only having tyre wear and surface temps simulated.

I agree with you and these are precious tips that may help a lot!

    HOWEVER..
It's a shame that us (the players) are the ones who have to come up with all kinds of 'crazy workarounds' to try and fix something that should be working from the start and it's just 'broken' at the moment..

Once again, I hate to be super harsh, but the truth is that what we have right now is a bad/broken product since it's just not working properly as it should - not to mention we never had these issues (and this much) in previous games - talking about the AIs only, they were never a problem before, but right now they're completely messed up..

Let me repeat this too: I honestly believe some ideas they had for the AIs this year are actually good, but they were badly executed and they're just not working as they should and causing more problems than making people happy about them.

I honestly hope the devs can still work to fix, improve and/or adjust the AIs - I assume it's not that easy and simple, bla bla bla - but I hope they do and so the game can be a LOT better, especially for people who love the Career modes (and I tend to believe this is a big number and probably most of the players in this game)..
