My AI Problem explained in greater detail
Product: F1 22
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
Summarize your bug The AI in any type of race hit times that are faster than the times in real life F1.
What is your 16 digit Report Code? -
Which area is the bug/glitch in? My Team
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Did you have cross-play enabled? No
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Retire from any Qualifying session playing on level 100, then compare the times of the AI with the times in real life F1.
What happens when the bug occurs? The AI hit Qualifying times on ridiculously low AI levels, which used to be impossible for them unless you played on AI level 100.
What do you expect to see? Just far slower AI, that's all.
Dear Codies, or EA, or whoever important might read this,
I would like to bring you closer to my problem that I have with the AI of this game, and what I would like to see.
Now, I recently played Qualifying on Spain. And I understand if I don't have the best car in the grid. However, if I play on a difficulty level like 71, I do expect to reach Q3 at the very least, regardless of where I end up on the grid. Now guess what - not only did my teammate out-qualify me on his final lap in Q2, and not only did he reach Q3, but (and this is the biggest kicker of all this) MAX VERSTAPPEN beat the REAL LIFE Pole Position time in Q2 by 3 tenths, and Sergio Pérez did the same in Q3. And keep in mind, that is level 71. 71. SEVEN ONE.
Now, I understand if AI beat real life times if you play on level 100, obviously, since the AI would try to match their real times, but when in say F1 2020 has the AI ever beaten a real life record unless the cars are maxed or the AI is set to level 100, let's think about this. And it's not the first time that this kind of thing occurred in F1 22. I saw it on several tracks, in one season, on the same level! That's insane, and it makes zero sense. Whatever you did to make the AI so insanely overpowered on such a low level, which is 29 levels lower than 100, whatever you did, you programmed the AI wrong. Obviously, in real F1, times like these don't and won't happen, it's absolutely ludicrous.
And it's not just me, who have this very problem. Hundreds, if not thousands of people I found in this forum have the same problem with the AI being insanely fast, in which people used to play on say 89, and now they're down to 21 even, because they can't get the simplest things right in any race, on any track, in any conditions. And even a German F1 Player I've watched for so long on YouTube, he started on 95, and now he also dropped down to 60, and he might drop further if this continues.
People like me love to play Single Player, and every Single Player experience in a racing game is ruined if the AI cause artificial difficulty because they can do things that humans cannot. And the AI ruins the experience, unfortunately, because they can beat real life times, which would never happen if the level is lower than 100.
Now, I do hope that the Performance optimization patch that you guys promised might somewhat mitigate the problem, but if it doesn't, then the only way of fixing all this would be to just create new F1 AI from scratch. Might take a lot of time, but it could be the only way out.
I am NOT going to drop the difficulty to 20 just because the AI you made ruins every Singleplayer-related thing, so I'm going to wait until the next AI patch comes out.
And since someone in the forum said this, here's a tip for next game: Guessing the race pace of new F1 cars is no way to create AI, because this will end up ruining the experience in all Single Player modes, and will lead to a huge ton of AI reports, like this one.
Thank you for your understanding. Here's to hoping that F1 22 will have a turn for the better in the future.
