On throttle differential on start
Hi.
On most videos for getting a good start, they give advice to lower the on throttle differential to something like 65 or lower to minimise wheelspin.
For me, there is something wrong. A differential should only be active when cornering either in entry when you release the throttle (off throttle) on when accelerating while exiting and turning your wheel (on throttle) but never on straights. As a start is always on a straight, for me, the differential should not make any difference.
Either this tip is not valid or the differential is badly implemented in the game.
Am I wrong? Has someone an explanation about the on throttle diff being triggered in straights. If this is the case it should be called traction control and this must be banned from the game.
Thanks for your answers.
Differentials allow the wheels to rotate at slightly different rates while cornering.
On a straight (or corner), under heavy acceleration (with some wheelspin) each side will have a different amount of grip and the side with less grip might just spin up really fast while the other maintains traction but does not get much torque.
A limited slip differential will limit the one sided wheelspin and provide more torque to the wheel with more grip.
The operational parameters of the differential are important in corners, on straights, while accelerating/decelerating etc.
I recommend researching this yourself as how a differential works is fascinating from a racing/engineering perspective.
