Can you inform the reason why this is happening?
Hi IcyElixer21,
I too take my driving very seriously. I have all assists off but still use 3D driving line.
I am not a techie, but here is my opinions on ghosting.
-Social play, ghosting is on, but if you create your own you are able to turn ghosting off (see pic), but I don't know how long till someone joins the session? If someone does join, are they a good or bad driver? You will probably be racing against the AI anyway, defeats the purpose of racing online then.
-Ranked play, ghosting is on, no arguements, see pic.
I no longer am interested in either.
If you set up a League you can turn ghosting off. I set up 2 leagues for "Expert Drivers" (the top 20% of drivers) with ghosting off but no-one joined, I did one race and got the achievement of "Driving Clique" "Complete a League race" "2.2% of players have this achievement". The largest amount of people I have seen in a "race weekend" is 5025 at Imola. I want to race with the top 20% that is 1005 people, but only 2.2% race in a league, so that is 22 possible people out there who I want in my league. I gave up on league, but if you are a good driver and interested in league I would be happy to race with you! Ghosting off! Perhaps we could find others.
I enjoy Race Weekends, but....
I used to be in iRacing but I am addicted to F1 22 now.
Have you raced in iRacing?
In iRacing seasons allow you to race as many times as you like over the week and they average out your results with an algorythm. In most (all) races of Formula Vee there is a multiple pile up at the first corner. Unless you can get pole race is effectively gone. Maybe bad averages too.
In F1 22 you get 1 shot at it! If you come back to race again in a race weekend there are penalties. Not sure what, I haven't done that yet.
So, from the video I hope you looked at;
There are good drivers mixed in with bad drivers, there aren't the numbers to have all good drivers together. I get a bad start because I have assisted start disabled (that is my excuse! but it does happen regularly). The very first corner we are 2 wide and someone behind tries to go through the middle. If ghosting is off that is 2 cars doing the right thing and leaving space taken out. Weekend gone! Fair?
In lap 2 I overtake on the inside, now I know the driver I pass is a good driver because they leave space for me. I could have been a bit more to the right and maybe equally I think the driver I passed could have been a bit more to the left. Stewards would have to make that decision. If the ghosting wasn't there I would have been spun around, weekend gone! Fair?
In lap 12 I pass ghost through a back marker, who consistently ignored the blue flag. If I lose time having to pass properly I lose points and drop down the weekend rankings. Fair? Same thing on the final lap, back marker will not yield!
It is my guess that F1 22 make allowances, but do also punish bad driving. I have been rammed on occasion when I have left enough room, but the driver who rammed me lost their front wing. I was undamaged and I think that is fair.
Does that make sense? Any thoughts?
Want to join a league with me?

P.S. I posted a comment on your YouTube Video
- 3 years ago@AllanWeigand Hello, I have found a solution to cars ghosting recently. All you have to do is disable crossplay in settings and the ghosting issue goes away in most lobbies. I believe this is a crossplay issue as this is F1 first crossplay game however they should fix it as I am only able to play with players on PlayStation which is a small player base compared to both Xbox and PC combined. Try disabling crossplay and search of lobbies that have either an orange or green network status bar it should work. I would like to join a league however when I play on crossplay I experience the ghosting issue.
Try and find a league that is PC based

icyFor info when I tested this myself I had crossplay enabled, so I'm still a bit confused by your experience but glad you've found a way for things to work better for you.

Hi IcyElixer21,
Thanks for letting me know. I am glad you found a solution. But I am like Ultrasonic 77, a little confused. But unlike Ultrasonic 77 my crossplay has always been off. But for the Weekly Event - Grand Prix I am glad the ghosting is there.
Cheers Allan.
I am inspired to go and have another look at online races with the orange or green network status. Cheers.

Sorry, I was referring to the above when I mentioned "game trophy stats". I play on PlayStation where what you called "achievements" are called "trophies". My point was that more people race in F1 leagues than the achievement you'd looked at suggests i.e. more than your 2.2%. If I were to set up a league myself I would not use the league option in the game, as I know that most experienced players wouldn't as it doesn't work very well. Instead, leagues are typically managed outside of the game but the actual races are hosted in private social lobbies. Does that make sense?
For info. I believe an important reason that crossplay was prioritised for social lobbies was precisely because this is where league races typically happen.
Re. being a Champion, note I'm just someone who plays the F1 games and I try to help where I can.
- 3 years ago@Ultrasonic_77 Yes you are right, almost everyone organizes racing leagues via Discord, facebook, and many more. This is the link for the main F1 discord: https://discord.gg/z8U5s8cF

I would like to thank both of you on helping me resolve this issue @Allan hopefully disabling cross play should work

Hi Ultrasonic 77
I did understand that. That did make sense. 'Private social lobbies' left me cold and and unloved....
But apparently there is something called Discord! I mean who knew? (probably everyone but me lol)
Re; Being a champion. I think you are being modest, you must have posted a lot of help for people that worked to become a champion. A lot of the questions asked I have no idea about. You are probably a bit of a Techie? Volunteers of the world make the world go round, and I appreciated your help for me and others. Thank you.
Cheers
