I am playing with TC assist off and F1 22 taught me you need to be a gentler on gas pedal. You can easily loose back end to wheelspin if you're too aggressive, especially at start of race.
So my experience is that gradual gas pedal application gets you further than "pedal to the metal" 😉
I'd guess your driving style could be influenced by previous versions where you could step on gas and just shoot out of corner with full traction. And that may not be the case in this game.
