OP Verstappen

I don't know if this is ever going to be looked at, but it should be, to be honest.

First of all, about the AI, I only tested them in Melbourne earlier today, and it feels like the AI has certainly been improved over the patches that released, so good job on the end of Codemasters.

However, I ran into a problem which has taken a whole new level of extreme, especially since the latest driver rating patch...

And this problem has the name Max Verstappen.

Ever since the latest patch, 1.11 to be exact, Verstappen seemed to have gotten inhumanly fast compared to all other drivers. It honestly feels like everyone else, including the player, drives an F2 car while he races away in an F1 car. This is a horrible, game-breaking error that was also present in F1 2021, in which said driver dominated all sessions in a season, essentially making him a 10 time champion unless the player is faster.

Now with the new driver rating update, this problem seems to have gotten way more extreme than previously. Seriously, you can't tell me that there is only one driver who wipes the floor with everyone, but everyone else is plain garbage. I mean, what about Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, George Russell, Carlos Sainz, and even Sergio Pérez? Why is everyone else so slow and Verstappen pulls away from everyone?

See, another main reason why I loved F1 2020 so much is the unpredictability that goes with a race. I remember a race in Season 2, in Bahrain, where Lance Stroll in the Racing Point, ended up on the podium, with Daniil Kvyat behind him! All those 2-stoppers, who were mostly drivers from the top 4 teams, were literally NOWHERE. Then, in most cases, even McLaren and Renault took high positions in the whole season, which is rarely the case in real F1. So where is this unpredictability that I know and love? Why is everything predetermined as if it was all just one huge script that everyone needs to follow? Are we seriously going back to 1997, where the champion in F1 games is already set and he gets a boost to win every single time with the rest of the field being scrambled up?

I understand if you win races with the best car in the grid, but if there is one driver who destroys the entire field and finishes a minute ahead of P2 when everyone else is close to each other, then something's clearly wrong.

This needs to be taken a look at ASAP, because this problem ruins the fun and makes all 10 seasons predictable, and that's not how good F1 games are made.

@thiago_ssj You're just like every other Verstappen fanboy who thinks he deserves the title, even though he clearly doesn't.

Also, a game is supposed to be unpredictable result-wise, and especially in F1, results can be unpredictable. How else did Gasly win in Monza in 2020? Or what about Lance Stroll? How did he get a podium for Williams in Baku in 2017? Did that all not happen? Is this impossible for someone like you?

I'm not saying that every team should have a shot at a race win, but at the very least, Codies need to have all drivers of the top 3 teams have a high chance to win a race, there shouldn't be one driver that dominates the field so that P2 is a minute behind when a 50% race ends. This is not how good racing games are made if you have one AI driver win every single race and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.

If I could, I would get you proof that I'm not going insane here, but because of the file size limit, I can't. You have to play the game yourself to see what I see.

@LuckyNico92Dude you’ve got to let it go.. we’ve had this discussion ages ago. You know Im not a fan off Max and Lewis was robbed. But this season what Max is doing in a car is mind blowing.

Guys keep the mocking friendly I’ve yet to flag a post to my EA overlords😂  and I don’t want to start now

@LuckyNico92  *Sigh* please don't come on this site and start doing what you did on the other site. You'll just end up getting yourself a reputation.

Furthermore don't come on here and call somebody a fanboy because they have a difference of opinion and made a statement that the game is mirroring the current F1 season.

To be fair, @LuckyNico92 your sample size is so small for you to be claiming that all 10 seasons of My Team will be dominated by Max and is thus unsubstantiated. You said that you've reached up to Melbourne and then somehow you've extrapolated that in every following race Max will win. I've not seen you complain of any race results past season 1, so frankly you can only comment on season 1. This was the case in your last post complaining of Verstappen too.

Until you complete 2 to 10 seasons you can't really comment on whether Max is OP and CM have made a script to ensure he wins everything on My Team. If you want to claim Max is OP on season 1, you're well within your right to argue that however you cannot start immaturely calling others fanboys because they counter argue that it's realistic results wise.

Additionally, if you read other threads and watch other YT content creator My Team saves you can see there are wide range of drivers who win races and dominate (looking at you Lando). And this is past season ONE.

All in all, it's just a game. If you get too worked up by it, you really should be splitting your time playing something else.

Look, I'm not trying to earn myself a "reputation", but I remember when the game was new and I first played My Team, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were the two big championship contenders in Season 1, and Verstappen got a few podiums here and there, but was never consistent, which is likely to happen in real life if you're not careful.

I mean, sure, I'm only through one race in Season 1, and Red Bull have the best car so far, but before version 1.11, Verstappen never had this inhuman pace like now. I know that because I have been playing 3 seasons in my previous My Team Career (I started a new one BTW), and the only time Verstappen was a lot more faster was in Season 3, after a move to Mercedes, yet still he couldn't get to the top because me and Lewis dominated the season so far, and sometimes there was a driver in his path he couldn't pass because the cars were almost equal in performance.

I'll keep an eye on it upon reaching Season 2 like you said @TotosHeadphones, but at the slightest sight of Verstappen dominance, I will create a follow-up reply. And as of right now, I'll just roll with it and admit defeat if Verstappen actually takes the championship.

To at least say something reasonable, I understand Verstappen being so quick in GP Mode, as playing the championship in said mode is supposed to be a replica of the real season, which is why I understand this design choice, to be honest. This was also the case in F1 2021, in which nearly every GP Mode race was dominated by Hamilton and Verstappen to somewhat replicate the real 2021 championship.

I get what you say though, so I'm going to stop posting here until I get to Season 2, so I can actually tell if Verstappen dominates everything or not.

I definitely think that is the most reasonable thing to do @LuckyNico92

It's understandable that in a game you'd want a variation when it comes to winners. When the game follows stats and car performance, it's always likely that in the first season, Verstappen, who is highest rated and the Red Bull, best rated car, are going to dominate. And regardless of how you, I or anybody feels about it, that's what it's like in real life too. So that's how the game is going to run and I would think it's not specifically scripted.

I think you definitely won't see the dominance in later game/seasons due to the randomness of regulation changes and driver moves. I've seen plenty of My Team seasons with different drivers involved in the championship fight, you just have to slog through it past the first season. Try your best @LuckyNico92
