Something that has to be clear: F1 by EA/Code is a simcade that only cares about including as many players as possible. The focus and commitment is not the same as in simulators. They leave OP driving aids like ABS that don't even exist in the car and flood Hotlaps with these aids, imagine the rest... seen through the eyes of the producers, they just want as many drivers as possible playing the game and that's it. No need to strain like people who play unaided (as the car really is), and are often even faster than them.

@Jato_Italiano , as I'm committed to devils advocate here on this thread. :P
Some interesting comments here:
"Seen through the eyes of the producers, they just want as many drivers as possible playing the game and that's it" - In some ways true, in a lot, no. We of course want as many players playing our game as possible, who doesn't? But that constitutes creating a game that everyone can be invested in and want to play. Considering the F1 franchise, as a core game experience, is about the hardest game to get into for rookie players, with an incredibly high ceiling of ability, assists are a must.
The harsh reality is there's no one here who could get into a F1 car of any generation in real-life and be able to even get it off the grid. Its all about compromise. Imagine if we made a game where no player could get out of the pits without stalling, wouldn't be much fun?
"No need to strain like people who play unaided (as the car really is) and are often even faster than them" - Always someone quicker than you. Always someone quicker than me, my forum race results will be testament to that. Unless you are Jarno Opmeer or something, there's still a challenge for you somewhere.
For me, I respect and appreciate those quicker than me and also understand that there are people who are slower than me in-game who have a lot of fun doing so. The core driving experience is excellent imo, and this has always been my opinion since 2012.

I understand your side, but ABS for example has been OP since 2021.
What I mean: In SPA I'm 1 or 2 tenths faster than an opponent the whole track, then we get to the "Bus Stop", he brakes MUCH later, and recovers all the time it was behind, turning exactly the same time or fasters, because 1 hard brake point. If I do the same braking point, without ABS, I just go straight, regardless of configuration. That is, what was my reward for learning and drive without help? Answer: Seeing people slower, equalizing times because of unrealistic braking. And it's been that way for a long time. I'm used to being in the top 200-300 in the world at time trials, so I know when a rider is faster than me, or when he's being helped to be faster.
Now imagine that on every track, drivers who aren't that fast, matching lap times with unrealistic braking, and worst, fast experienced drivers, using ABS to use their natural potential + unrealistic late braking. That's what has happened in every league I know of.
Several aids penalize the driver's lap time, and that is to be congratulated, but for some reason, ABS doesn't have this "penalty", on the contrary, it is an aid that motivates others to use it, even if they have enough quality to not use. ABS had to add at least half a second per lap, just like other aids do (much more lap time by the way.).

@Jato_Italiano Then please create a separate post on the issue and present your findings.
This is a thread on cockpit mode in multiplayer, not to be piggy-backed by ABS discussions.
Also, if it happens in 'every league' you are a part of, and if the league values that sort of realism, then just ask the league to turn it off. Theres a MP option to turn it off.
