Option to keep tyres on when pitting?

Is there any option to keep the same tyres on at a pit stop? I was doing a race at spa medium to hard tyre, pitted for the hard and lost the car on my out lap with cold tyres damaging my front wing, had to pit for a new wing and had the option of used mediums (that i had on in the first stint) or new softs which wouldn’t last until the end, no option to keep my hard tyres on, am i missing something? Or is it codies/ea?

If tire allocation isn't going to be fixed, this is a must-have.  Your race can be completely ruined if you need to pit and only have softs or a set of used mediums.

@OatmealB0wl Independant of the free choice of tyres this should be a thing, just an option "Change/dont change tyres when changing the front wing".. Its not complicated and there are enough scenarios which make this a must..
  • I can see your point but in true Formula One tyres are removed automatically the thought process would be of the cars been damaged and therefore in the Pits the Following Lap the Tyres could be damaged or punctured.

What would be better if before the Race started you could choose what sets of tyres to have available in the Race like the days of GP2 and GP3 on PC.

I think by Default it's the tyres that are the least worn from each compound.

  • It's True to life in Formula One that the tyres are always changed in case they are punctured or damaged.

Plus from the games perspective the advantage of Pitting is getting new tyres.

There are game situations where drivers can get through more front wings in a single race than any real F1 driver ever has though...

@scrappyusa unlucky that in this game its the opposite as you generally forced to pit for softs and thats the end of your race. (as long as you suffered dmg after 1st stop). And no, even in real life f1 it has happened that tires arent changed.

@scrappyusa That's mostly true, because if you have to do an unscheduled pit stop you generally get a free fresh set of tyres too.

Problem here is that the game doesn't allow you to choose the tyres you can carry to the race session, so if you have to do an unscheduled pit stop, you got an used set, or a set which is not suitable for the conditions (IE: it will not last long enough to finish the race).

If the game would allow to not change tyres during a pit stop, that tyre allocation problem would be somewhat mitigated, more so now that CM said tyre allocation will not be solved until next year's game.

Of course the fix is solving the tyre allocation problem, but seems like they see it as a feature, not a bug or a missunderstunding of the F1 rules, or simply they don't care, idk.
