Pad users struggling for traction. This may help.

Ok @Dan78loki  actually gave me the idea.  And so not sure about other pads but if using dual sense.  Turn triggers off.  Firstly they don’t work properly on this game as it is.  But even so with them turned on they are responding as though the haptics are working as they should. This results in  massively reduced travel.   I’ve just tried on auto gears without tc, med tc and where I noticed most full tc isn’t so eager to not the car down as it has been.

It’s  night and day… but it may just be me.

    Or just a crazy idea:

Codemasters could fix this damn problem. But they didn't even aknowledge that it is a problem.

I'd love to even be able to have this issue, but as I was a * and bought the game on Origin, I can't even use my DualSense pad on PC.

  • @ScarDuck14Thanks sd for the credit. I find it helps the brake feeling slows me down and feels all to fake. I just have vibration on so feel kerbs etc just for effect really.

Having said that I still have unwarranted traction  loss in med trc.  It can only help so far.

@Dan78loki Problem with medium tc is you dont know where the limit off it’s assistance is: As you accelerate you get no feedback that it’s active. So you think it’s all good but it unknown to you is tc is holding on by its finger nails: Any slight change of steering angle or increased acceleration instantly overpowers tc and it lets go hence you snap spin. Your better off with no tc or full tc. However with full tc you still have try and drive nice and smooth otherwise it cuts to much power and hogs down…. This game really needs more that off med on options.

@ScarDuck14I think you hit the nail on the head there.

All I know is 21 I could have fun and be competing with med trc in dry and wet. 22 I have to lower the ai and drive like miss daisy to not visit a wall and skip the rain races.

@Dan78lokiI think cause the effect off tc wasn’t as strong in last years game. So medium tc you got a feel off tc being overpowered well before your full throttle accelerating through twisty bits.

As with full tc last year you could still get enough wheel slip to feel the back slide out.

This year full tc control is way way to strong.

  • I'm using a PS3 pad and somehow, for me anyway, this actually works!

In my case, it seems to disable the pad vibrating when you're on the throttle, so the only feedback you feel is from the tyres like with F1 2020 and before. With the engine vibration, I felt like I was getting all the wrong information and it was a real struggle to keep the car on the track.

Now it feels like I'm a lot more in control of the car, for instance at Bahrain FP1 just now, new save, season 1 with a Williams - should be a low traction nightmare for me but this helped enormously. I've been able to increase the difficulty by about 10 clicks too.

This would also explain why I was having such a hard time with F1 2021. Same issue, spinning under throttle, too much vibration causing distorted feedback and the wrong reactions to everything.

    Thanks!

Edit: Actually, just realised I disabled Trigger Vibration, whereas you guys might be talking about disabling Adaptive Triggers too.

@s00zsterYes adaptive triggers but you opinion has obvious merit.

Last year the adaptive triggers feedback was strong. So as soon as you felt the triggers stiffen up. Stop pressing. But this year the triggers are so weak in the game. So for all you know they could be stiffening up but you can’t feel it so you keep pressing.

And typically the triggers work perfectly when driving supercars. Codemasters making sure everything works perfect on tue stuff we don’t want it use

So because it's a PS3 controller (on PC) and because it doesn't have separate trigger vibration like the more modern controllers, the feedback was being transmitted by the main rumble motor - same as the tyre feedback. Impossible to differentiate the two sets of feedback and worse still, me not knowing that there was another line of feedback for the throttle, thinking it was all related to the tyres. I should really reinstall F1 2021 and check it out, see how a race goes without it enabled.

Edit: Just tried F1 2021 with trigger vibration disabled for the first time and oh my god it's fantastic haha! I could push the car through the corners, felt like a completely different game to the one I had trouble with for the past year. Think I'll get a career started on that for now while waiting for some more fixes for 22.

@s00zsterOne thing to remind for everyone who uses Xbox pads, although not entirely sure if it's actually the case or a unique issue on my side, but the trigger rumbling in Xbox Series X pad is a hell lot weaker than the old Xbox One pad.

I was absolutely shock when I first bought the Series X pad and tried it on F1 2021, the feedbacks were so weak....almost non-existence in comparison with my old pad...apparently I heard it was noise complaints so they tuned it down.
