PC driving with keyboard issue

Hi , got the game through origin , Playing on pc using keyboard , the issue I'm having is occasionally and randomly through out the game , I can't find a way to reproduce the issue but it happens usually once a lap or once every other lap , i can't accelerate or break while steering right , it works with left but not right , using WASD , as per w- accelerate s-break a-left d-right , i can't accelerate or break and have D pressed at the same time , i have to choose one or the other , if i keep W pressed , D does not register , i'm using Steel series apex 5 keyboard that suppose to have anti-ghosting , another thing that i noticed , it does the same with ESC key , can not accelerate and press esc when that issue happens , if i pause the game and leave it be for 5-10 seconds the game goes back to normal and its playable , needless to say its frustrating crashing into walls or other cars due to innability to steer . also i got this error when i pause the game , thanks in advance

  • @-DeaThHiryu- I've literally uninstalled the game and reinstalled it because of this. Issue still persist and is extremely annoying. Doesn't matter if you change the steering configuration, it will happen again. I hope the developers will look into this. I'm a loyal fan of the game but if this makes it unplayable, this will be my last f1 purchase. I play through steam.

One day after I replied to this post, I can't even change keyboard configurations anymore. The game is still unplayable with keyboard steering working and then suddenly you can't turn anymore and the car goes straight into the wall. Please look into this. If there is any way I can give more feedback to try and resolve the issue, please let me know.

Since I got the game, I've played more than 190 hours. The last two days, 0 hours because I can't steer with the keyboard anymore. please look into this.

  • Try standard wired keyboards that just use the Windows driver. Don't remap any keys.

If this works, it's not a bug.

@SteveJackson Today, I did a keyboard test, and the keyboard on my laptop works 100%. I tested the game and the steering issue was still there. I reverted to the game configuration for the steering, same issue. I tried an external keyboard today and once again the steering issue remains. Lastly, I played F1 2021 as a test and I had no issues with an entire race. What can I do? If the keyboard works perfectly in F1 2021 and gives issues in F22, isn't there an issue with the F22 game?

not to sound like an * but i dont see what the keyboard has to do with anything , its a windows driver after all , as for the whole "its not a bug thats trash talk" , whats gonna be next if the game has some issue with an nvidia vidio card , its not a problem with the game its a problem with the card so i should swap to amd just becase a game cant optimise the game to work on a certain video card / driver from a video card provider? that makes no sense .

Don't be a dork. If your keyboard doesn't use a standard windows driver (and some don't, because they add functions that are not normal for keyboards) then it's of course possible that those extra drivers can conflict with something in the game code.

It was a suggestion to rule out something. As is this.

Try deleting any custom control schemes in game. Remove any controllers except the keyboard preset. Try to use a standard keyboard where possible.

Delete the hardware_settings_config.xml and verify Steam files.

Test the buttons in the default Keyboard Preset 1. Don't remap, play with those keys.

Customise (remap). See where the issue is introduced.

If there was a really bad keyboard bug, lots of players would be posting. Although it could mean that the percentage of players using the keyboard in a racing game is not very significant.

By all means, post the bug if found. Devs will decide where the priorities lie. The more specific you can be, the greater the chance of a fix.

If the game was a copy / paste as is often the accusation then it would work, wouldn't it? But support for some controllers has been removed, It may have (inadvertently) impacted keyboard players. X360 controllers have gone - some non FFB Thrustmaster wheels have been incorporated into the newer unified driver.
