I fixed it this way: Going into the Logitech G29 profile in game and changing the buttons in that profile.
I was having this same problem as I created a profile from scratch, configuring all the buttons from scratch.
The button that we want for the interactive pit is the "accept/advance" (depending on the translation), it is a "Menu Button" that in the standard G29 comes in the X button. If you don't use Logitech, check if there is any steering wheel profile that in addition to "control scheme", also has "menu scheme" configured, this is the profile that will work.

On Thrustmaster the button that by default should be used for pit stop is button 6. The problem is that even pressing it does not take over despite the fact that for other activities it works correctly. I don't know what to do

Isn't it under something daft like "special"? I'm sure that's what mine is on Xbox/g920

Would you mind having a look to confirm? I don't think it is what you've just said but it would be interesting for you if you do see something like this (maybe in varies with platform?) There's been a similar discussion in the following thread recently, where I've posted that as far as I can see it's the Accept/Advance button that appears 5 th down in the Menu section.
