Please Sir… Can ask a PS5 question? Using words?

I know the answer is no I’ll have to risk shunting while I search through the MFD. However. Obviously I was disappointed when I started the game for the first time to see for the second year runnin...

    In game speech recognition on PS5 is not supported, this is a dashboard console function that is not available to us for use in game.

    I've logged this as a bug.

    I reponded on the Codemasters forums a lot over the years and tried to answer as many audio related issues as I could. I did this off my own back, I'm not obliged to use the forums or respond to posts - I doubt you'll find many developers who do reply to posts because when they do they're often hit with increasing demands, sarcasm or abuse. I sense a lot of sarcasm from your posts, when this happened on the Codies forums I blocked or ignored users and answered those who were polite, patient posters. I've answered questions about voice recognition many times and these posts can still be found now so I doubt I purposly ignored you. Here is one such instance:

    "You may have better luck getting a reply from him. But he hasn’t answered when I asked him already this year and last year."

    See above link to the Codies forums where I directly address voice chat on PC, Xbox and PS platforms. I may not have responded directly to you but I've responded to these questions last year.

    As mentioned above, the PS5 has voice recognition on the dashboard, we as developers cannot directly access this.

    And just so we have a record of this on the EA forums. Here's my post (directly lifted from the Codies 2021 thread).
     
     
    "Unfortunately we're under NDA when it comes to details of Playstation and Xbox consoles, but so much we can say:
     
    Xbox:
     
    The Xbox platform always requires Kinect for in-game voice commands.
     
    - Xbox XS: does not support Kinect anymore
    - Xbox One: due to changes in the development tools/firmware, Kinect is no longer supported in 2021
    - Headsets, external mics etc. cannot be used. These are only supported for cloud-based services like "Speech-To-Text"/"Text-To-Speech" in the voice chat, but not for game applications
     
    BTW: Forza Horizon 4 (Xbox) does not support voice commands without a connected Kinect deivce
     

    Playstation:
     
    - Playstation 4 can use any type of microphone for speech recognition (for best results, use the Sony mono voice chat headset)
    - PS5: due to changes in the development tools/firmware, in-game speech recognition is no longer supported. There are cloud-based service only ("Speech-To-Text"/"Text-To-Speech") for voice chat, but not for game applications
     
    There is not a single PS5 game out there that currently supports in-game speech recognition, that is a strong hint that it is not supported at the moment. This might change in the future if Sony adds new features to the platform.
     
    Bonus tip: running the PS4 version on the PS5 will make the voice commands work with the PS5 controller microphone, as the PS4 is 100% emulated on the PS5.
     

    PC:
     
    As long as the "MS Speech v11" SDK is supported by Windows, voice command will work. That SDK wasn't updated for 8 years now, but so far it still works."

      @issueskid13  Thanks for the clarity fella.  I have said to you before I appreciate that your willingness to engage with the community even though you don’t have to.   Obviously you don’t know me. But whatever I post comes with tongue places in cheek. Sorry if I came across offensive or toxic.  That was unintentional result off me trying to be funny whilst asking a serious question.  

      However  it is frustrating coming from PS4 where it worked to so called next gen where is doesn’t

      Thanks @issueskid13  for that info. Is there a chance to address this issue to Sony development for us customers? If many customers complain about that there should be a chance to get it back. Maybe you know where is a possibility to open a request.
