Practice programmes in VR
I plan on playing F1 22 exclusively in VR as it's much more enjoyable. Unfortunately the complete lack of HUD (as far as I can tell) in this mode makes practice programmes nearly impossible. I'm tryi...
Why would you want a HUD in VR? Defeats the purpose of the immersive experience, that's just more pixels and numbers to distract you from driving especially in VR in the cockpit.
But seriously, as stated above, that's why there is no HUD in VR cockpit cam, designed to be realistic and immersive... but if you really want them back you have to head into the settings and configure the OSD (On Screen Display). In Cockpit VR everything is turned off you just have to go back into the settings edit the display panels so they aren't hidden.

Because the information available to me without the HUD is lacking at best, and at worst just wrong. If I could customize what was shown on the wheel, similar to how an actual F1 wheel has multiple screens of information, I would be perfectly happy

Cheers, I can't seem to find one that gives me the information I'm looking for during practice; but I definitely did manage to miss the setting I was looking for every time I checked
I turned on the objectives in the menu mentioned, but I didn't even know there was more information available, I'll have to look for that. I don't mind sacrificing some realism to have more useful info - at the end of the day it's a game and the goal is to have fun. I would turn it off for the race though, the steering wheel itself gives enough info there.
The lap time targets for the practice programs seem to be impossible anyways though. I'm able to qualify appropriately for my car on difficulty 75, but my all-out pace is at least a second slower than the practice targets, even for fuel conservation etc.
When you are on track and go into Settings -> On Screen Display -> OSD Customisation, there is a button to change the layouts for the specific session (race, quali, practice, TT) and inside the practice overlay it show you can enable the widgets you need
I've struggled with the same thing. But every item is just "Hidden" in the OSD customiser. You need to go in and unhide every individual item. Thankfully you CAN unhide them to get that practice programme information.
