faced something similar in Jeddah today (so the same after patch 1.10).

The suggested strategy is wrong imho, as it's slower than what you can do with the same tyres, here's the default (red rectangle):

while you can do (13 seconds faster!!!):

Today I run a 100% race with the faster strategy, but it looks AI is using the wrong one, as you can see from the following pictures the top drivers all pitted around the 20th lap (H --> M):

From the telemetry I can see they changed the (H) with a 33% of usage, while ending the race with (M) at 66% of usage!

I think they could be faster in the race using a strategy similar to mine but it's also true that they were still damn fast at the end of the race, because even if I won for 11 seconds and I did also a good final lap using saved ERS, AI did the best lap for 0,044 s. ahead of me. So they are really really fast with a 66% used tyres. High usage but still not too high (75% or more).

P.S.:

my (H) ended the last lap with a 48% of usage which should mean around 97,25% of grip level (according to the stats taken from patch 1.06, I ignore if they have been modified in the meanwhile);

AI (M) ended with their 66% of usage which mean a 93,70% of grip.

In Jeddah the difference between a new (M) and a new (H) is around 0,5 s., I cannot say how much is in lap time that 3,5% of grip difference, even if I guess a player could be a bit more in trouble than AI, it's still not impossible what AI achieved, but imHo with a big "H" 🙂

Yeah the AI runs some poor strategies on 100% races, the most basic of which is too short of a stint on hards followed by too long a stint on mediums.  They do the same at Spa.

At Austria they'll do a S/M/H where they go far too long on the mediums and switch to hards with only 15 or 20 laps to go (hards are barely 1% deg per lap at Austria).

They run the default tire strategies which just aren't generally very well optimized.
