According to some reports, removing special characters in your steam username and trying again can help.

Also, verifying integrity of game files on steam can also help.

Here is how to do so:

1. You can either right click the game in your Library, or click the gear icon from the game's Library page on the far right.
2. From the drop down menu, select. Properties...
3. Select the. Local Files.
4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
