Re: Fanatec McLaren GT3 V2 buttons 7 & 8 hardcoded in-game but not present on wheel

F1 22, 1.09, PC Origin. No changes. Still 8 and 7 that are not present on the Fanatec McLaren GT3 V2 wheel are being bound to important functions in game preventing user from switching in some places like here (tyre select / car setup)

    F1 22, 1.10, PC Origin. No changes. Hardcoded 7 and 8 buttons in Tyre Select / Car Setup switch, replay/highlights fast forward / reverse navigation, etc. How can I play this game with VR headset when I can't interact with a game from Fanatec McLaren GT3 V2 wheel?

    New week. New patch. 1.15.928484. Still nonexistent buttons are hardcoded in quite important place. Please, @EA_Kent or anyone from Codemasters/EA, tell me again how can I switch between Tyre Select and Car Setup with my Fanatec McLaren GT3 V2 wheel on DD1 base? You can do it easily with triggers on Xbox One pad so why can't I do it on my wheel?!

    @EA_Kent Guess what? 1.16 and buttons are still hardcoded. I've started My Team mode and 7 and 8 are used there in so many places! Please, please, please change those hardcodes to 31..34. Anything that exists on the wheel.

    Situation report. Oh well... you ignore us as always. No changes in binding 7 and 8 buttons on McLaren GT3 V2 wheel. Can I pay you to fix it?

  • here one more player with the same steering wheel that also needs a solution to be able to assign those buttons

  • I also have the same problem but as I tried to solve it now my F7 and F8 buttons are completely broken so that I can’t even switch the menus with the keyboard. Has anybody a solution for me would help me out a lot.

    Version 1.17. 7 and 8 buttons on McLaren GT3 V2 wheel still hard-coded. No way to rebind them. And no one seems to care.

    I assume the game is dead and no bugs will be fixed? Really, how hard is it not to hard-code buttons or at least change this hard-coding to something that actually exists on the wheel? I'm trying to play Career Mode (My Team / Driver Career) and 8 and 7 are widely used as a switch between "sub-sections".

    1.19 - I still can't switch between subtabs which have hardcoded 7 and 8 buttons using Fanatec McLaren GT3 V2 wheel. Surprised? Nope. I just feel scammed, that's all.

    @grocalI don’t think Jarno Opmeer on his high end wheel can either. He uses his keyboard as a workaround

    Guess what? It works. Probably since 1.17 judging by files dates. Why did I claim that it didn't? Because you can't just use the existing MODIFIED controller setup. To use the new, now with buttons 10 and 11 bound to Menu Trigger Left and Menu Trigger Right, you just have to select and enable CSL Elite Steering Wheel McLaren GT3 V2. Plain, clean one offered by the game. That's it. Drawback is - you can't rebind those buttons from the interface.

    But if you want to rebind them, then you have to manually edit actionmaps files. Search for any XML files in actionmaps folder that contain "McLaren GT3 V2". There will be a few based on different "wheel bases". Then find section for "McLaren GT3 V2" and find Menu Trigger Left and Menu Trigger Right entries. You can change axisName to any desired (but be logical about that, don't bind something weird) button. In my case I've changed that to buttons 11 and 12 so di_button_10 and di_button_11. Then save files and start the game and select "CSL Elite Steering Wheel McLaren GT3 V2" controller setup. That's important! Select it and edit if needed - don't use the one you used before, even if it was for the same wheel! That was the mistake I was making assuming that changes will go retroactively to current setup.

    And one more thing. If you ever see that system goes back to 7 and 8 binding - go to settings and select and enable GT3 V2 setup again - the original or your edited one. I saw this happen couple of times and that was a fix.

    <Action actionName="Menu Trigger Left">
    <Axis axisName="di_button_10" type="uniDirectionalPositive" deadZone="0.0" saturation="1.0" />
    </Action>
    <Action actionName="Menu Trigger Right">
    <Axis axisName="di_button_9" type="uniDirectionalPositive" deadZone="0.0" saturation="1.0" />

    You are not going to believe it, but it is finally fixed...for F1 24!

    It was kinda fixed in F1 23 too. In F1 24 there's one problem though that button on HAT (4-way joystick) is hard-bound as OK button. But I hope that's possible to be fixed with the method I offered in this thread before with editing xml files.
