Re: Make the AI react to tyre temperatures
Currently (patch 1.09), the AIs can ALWAYS keep their tyres at 92ºC, no matter what.
After a pit stop, their tyres are also at 70ºC, just like the player's, but they can easily warm them up back to 92 in about 1 lap - the player needs about 2 or 3 laps to do the same (especially on Hards, which is where this AI advantage becomes easier to see/feel).
It seems - as a general rule - the ideal operating window for tyre temps is from 90 to 100ºC - anything below 90 or above 100 can cause the tyres to lose grip and the car to lose performance (trickier to brake, harder to take the corners, slower to accelerate, easier to lose control, spin, crash, etc)..
They need to simulate the AIs tyre core temps to fluctuate a bit more and sometimes get closer to (or slightly below) 90 and sometimes closer to (or slightly above) 100, which is what happens to the players most of the time - but the players also need to find the best values for tyre pressures, which helps to keep the tyres inside that optimal operating window throughout a whole stint, regardless of the tyre compound (Hards are harder to warm up and tend to be the 'coldest' tyres and Softs are the opposite - Mediums are naturally the middle point between them in this regard as well).
A tip here is to test during the FP sessions and try to take some laps on Mediums and see if the core temps are stabilizing around 95/96 and if so, you found the ideal values for tyre pressures and they should work fine both for Softs and Hards as well).
I'm about to write a whooooole topic about these findings in terms of tyre pressure/temps values - I've found some interesting stuff and I want to share this knowledge with everyone - it might help - I'll post a link to this topic here when it's up - cheers!
