Re: NEW TRACKS - and what to do with them...

@ScarDuck14 Yeah read my response above. It's a lot more complicated then people think.

@ScarDuck14 China was part of the official formula 1 season. No matter if the race happened or not. I don't think I'm late. I just understand how gaming licensing works.

@Wollcott And China is apart off the official calendar next year. As with last years game you could only swap in tracks in second season.

I’m fully aware off how licensing works. And fully aware it comes down to one thing…. Money

@ScarDuck14 Next years calendar has 0 effect on this year's game.
Including it in "2nd season onwards" is a decision Codemasters made probably because of game mechanic reasons. But certainly not BC of any real life related things. And if China and Portugal were official tracks this year then likely this would've been the same in this year's game.
And no it doesn't have to come down to money. You surely know that FOM holds multiple veto rights and they are not interested in handing out their licenses when other things are included as well were they currently have no hands on.
Codemasters has 0 control over this.

@ScarDuck14 So maybe you understand now that whatever happened last year with portimao and imola is not at all comparable to China and portimao this year.

@ScarDuck14 Well then you should revisit your first response and look if it actually made sense what you said.
I thought with your badge you are the one explaining and not the one throwing random things around that have 0 influence on the actual issue. If you have "community connections" I'm expecting you know exactly why this is with the tracks and why it cannot be like last year. Was a bit surprised you didn't know a thing about it.

    @Wollcott
    @ScarDuck14

I'm pretty sure there are some legal issues about adding tracks to the game, of course.

But once they are in the game, I don't think there are (or should be) ANY reasons that would prevent the players from racing in these tracks in any mode they want.

Speaking about the career modes, for example, we can have those 10 or 16 races seasons and that's also not 'official' - hell, the MyTeam mode is not 'official' as well, since we have a fantasy team in it and we can literally drive around and do all kinds of crazy sh!t and crash out each and every other official team and driver if we want..

My point is: the players are (still) free to play the game in ANY ways they want and use ALL of its content (cars, tracks, etc) as they want, so.. having tracks (or cars) in a racing game when you can NOT use them in this or that specific mode is not exactly a smart thing to do.

In this case, we're talking about (not) being able to race on the tracks on the two most popular modes, which is (I believe) just a poor decision by the devs - as MANY other things in this particular version of the game (the 2022 one).

And OBVIOUSLY, if we waste our time here, antagonizing each other - even if you disagree with whatever someone else said - that's also just as pointless as adding those tracks to the game and not letting us race in them in the most popular modes..

I think it would be great if ALL (or at least most) of the people here were 'demanding' they would allow us to use these new tracks on all modes, etc - and the same about all the other topics where we are complaining about things that are wrong with the game and asking them to be fixed, improved, etc.

But instead some people prefer to come here and say things that end up going against all of that.

If you don't have anything positive to add, then it's better to just keep it to yourself - focus on telling the DEVS about the things we would like in the game and let's hope they LISTEN to us and that they can actually do it and make it happen - but only THEM (the devs) should be the ones telling us when/if something is literally not possible, or just won't happen because of legal issues, or because they just don't want to, etc.

Help making this game better, or don't waste our time.
    =)

@SexyBrigadeiro Yeah it doesn't change the fact there are different licenses for different game modes in the game.
You can doubt it as much as you want but that is exactly what it is.
Shortening the championship takes no harm to the official things in the game. Adding stuff is. A
I criticize Codemasters plenty of times for giving us a really terrible and broken game but this is one of the things they don't have much control on. Believe me, they would've added all tracks since 2015 to every mode if they were allowed to. We can just be happy they are adding a few to TT, GP and online.

@Wollcott I never said I don't believe in you or in what you're saying. But..

"We can just be happy they are adding a few to TT, GP and online"

    No, we can't. We shouldn't. At least I can't.
    This is not satisfactory.
This is almost pointless (if you can only use them in a few specific modes and if you can't use them in the most popular game modes).

I also don't doubt they make efforts to do all of this - to build the game and to try and fix it, etc. BUT.. that's also not satisfactory at the moment - the game is still a mess and we are actually helping them by complaining and telling them what is wrong with the game and what kind of stuff we would like them to add and to do and how to fix the game, etc.

I think it's up to THEM to come and say "hey, we can do this", or "hey, we can't do that" - and it's also a shame that we get very little info (replies) from them as well.

This topic - just like a lot other topics in this forum - was created to try and put some 'pressure' on the devs so they can understand how important some things are for the players and then the hopes are that the more 'pressure' we make, the bigger would be the chances of them doing what we're suggesting and requesting.

But then when some of the players come and say the devs can't do this, the devs won't do that (because of "A", or because of "B", or because of "C"), etc, that just doesn't help at all - not to mention it creates antagonism between some/all of us here and even give EA good excuses not to say anything and/or not to do the things we're asking for.

So, I'm sorry if this sounds a bit rude - not actually my intention, but - if you don't agree with this or any other topic's request/suggestion, then just don't say anything.

People can help by adding their voices to the requests, reply asking for the same things, clicking on the 'me too' or 'XP' buttons, etc.

Sure, people can disagree on things and it's more than ok to discuss any topics in a friendly way, but at the same time if it's not gonna actually add and help the topic positively, then it's better to just keep it to themselves.

    Anyway..
I still think we should be able to use the new tracks on any and all game modes, including and especially on the career modes and on the regular public lobbies rotations.
I still think we should have more and more tracks added to the game.
And I think it's a shame we don't have these (and a lot of other) things (but instead a lot of issues) in the game.

IF it's actually possible to do it or not - for legal or any other reasons - I don't know and it's up to EA to let us know.

I can only HOPE these things happen, simply because it would make the game a LOT better.
    =)

@SexyBrigadeiro Ive been playing these games since 2010 and it was unthinkable until three years ago that there are any other tracks other than the official world championship. this is a huge improvement.
even if its for online. its the only mode i play or at least try to play since its broken to hell.
Its simple: No tracks whatsoever or at least some but very limited. you chose between these two. there is no third option.

    You might be right, but..

You talk as if you work at EA and whatever you say is 100% official and true (maybe it is, maybe it's not).

And all you did was help to kill this topic.

    As I said before..
If you don't support the subject (or the request/suggestion) of the topic, just don't say anything.

Be more supportive, helpful and/or positive - to this or any other topic and people here in this forum - otherwise and once again, just don't say anything that won't help.

This was my final post about this particular (and pointless) 'discussion'.
(I'm setting this topic as 'solutioned' - you're welcome)
