Re: Switching from Controller to Logitech G920!

@mariohomoh Haha, if only I was that quick off the mark! I happened to find it on YT with my algorithms and then I looked up Reddit. It's a really interesting piece of engineering; most bases house the large motor and then have the wheel attached to the motor/base. However, they've made the wheel itself house the motor, so the base is tiny with varying levels of customisable tilt. With the wheel being the motor, the torque is handled slightly differently (too much for my brain to decipher 😅) but it explains the weird ergonomics and form factor and also how it can be so cheap. It'll be perfect for a desk mount, so bringing down the costs of having to buy stand/rig, which is another big outlay.

As a brand Cammus are trying to shake up the market a bit. Their first wheel and base, while PC only, had some positive reviews. It was aimed more towards drifting as it lacked a display and buttons on the wheel, but it came in at a competitive price. I'll keep an eye on what they do as they're trying to be a bit different.

@TotosHeadphones The new wheel is hideous but I love it that they're trying something new. And the idea on paper has indeed the potential to deliver a crispy, responsive FFB.
I'll wait for a few reviews though 🙃

I remember their past products having some glaring quality control issues - like a heatsink not properly sat atop of the chips - and some criticism over how their FFB feels, but those are all that new company trope. Would be lovely if they cleaned up their operation and improved on those areas, I'll keep my eyes open.

@mariohomoh Oh it's hideous, it's a got a face only a mother (developer) could love! With no viable means to change the wheel itself it'll be a no go for a fair few people. Actually, at 12am this morning I was contemplating buying one as I was workinhmg out how I was going to repair a broken switch on the G29!

I mostly saw a few positive reviews but I suppose I didn't really delve into the other important parts. It wasn't for me. As a new company it's bound to have teething issues and question marks over quality. Additionally, they're already a step behind due to certain regions preemptively having a negative view on Chinese engineering, so they've also got to fight off that notion. Good luck to them, they've not copying existing models out there, so I hope they continue to bring Innovative and affordable solutions to the sim world.
