Re: VR Support for F1 2022

Hi all,

Has anyone tried OpenComposite (OpenXR or OpenOVR) - Play SteamVR games without SteamVR! ???

gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR

or

gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR/-/tree/openxr

I tried but black screen in window game and no sound, no work, a hope flies away

@Chagui1980 I have tried open composite using the open XR branch. It works like normal, no more stream vr needed but it didn’t do much to increase performance at all. I believe the devs are still looking into tweaking it.

@TheMrZoopsOpen Composite doesn't give any benefit in this game because the frame waiting times are fixed in it, probably because the VR implementation uses internal waiting times instead of having the API determine them. Add to this the fact that right now you cannot use Dynamic Resolution in OC (and even if you could it needs to be tested if frame waiting times remain fixed also in this case or not, because if they are then even dynamic resolution will do nothing in OC) and you are only losing performance by using it over OpenVR.

Until OpenXR toolkit will work with Open Composite there's no reason as to use it, since performance will be worse.
