Re: We need to talk about assists

Med tc maybe be more effective since the patch changed the torque curve and gear ratios.  But even so.  Because it can only handle so much power.  If you slightly add more power than can handle when accelerating or not fully opened your steering your going to get dreaded unpredictable snap spin.  So no tc is better than medium.  But full tc is far from good.  As it massively restricts engine power to the wheels.

Compared to modern day tc in real cars and games.  Tc in this game is from the Stone Age.

Abs only benefits those who aren’t good at trail braking.

auto gears have got better except for gears 567 due to a slight error

racing line is only a guide to help learn track and following it is slower

  • Assists are generally faster when you can’t drive without them. Racing line is absolutely faster because it tells you when to brake. The majority of racers don’t know when to brake and dump seconds a lap.

Faster drivers are the more consistent ones, and the more consistent ones are the ones with assists.

The only assist which I find to be really good is ABS because you can brake much later.

Auto gears, even before the latest bug, is slower.

Medium and Full TC is slower.

Racing line is not faster.  It’s way conservative when it tells you to brake and doesn’t use the entire width off the track. And not to mention doesn’t show apex.   It’s a good tool for helping learn track layouts. That’s it

No consistent drivers are not the fastest.  Consistent drivers focus on Race length and don’t try for fastest lap.   Consistent drivers set up their car to be stable throughout a entire race. Balancing handling, tyre wear and speed. So have less reliance off assists: it’s about doing every lap tyre type depending within 3 tenths lap after lap.  Consistent drivers learn most efficient way round a track.

Hot lappers lean on assists to help keep fheir very fast but very unstable setup on track.

Hi, I don't know how autogear is working in F1 22 but I had to use it for a period in F1 2021 due to an injury and I can say it was nothing bad!

Once used to I was very very close with laptimes, yes there was some little trouble in traction because the gear was a bit low and couldn't shortshift but I learned to be gentle on throttle while in high speed turns was very good. I remember also a video from Jarno Opmeer or Marcel Kiefer, don't remember, they also achieved a very similar lap time.

    Greetings,
    Nuv
