@RedRevNow because you would know better in front of your TV than people working on the sounds right... There's so much audio compression that you'll never hear how really the cars sound IRL, it will be always different through videos or TV.

From what the audio staff would comment on the OG forums, they usually do in loco audio capture with their own mics during pre season testing.
I think they did say the mic placement was the same but even if they didn't, these cars have mandatory slots for FIA mics in there already so that's reasonable.
Audio design is huge. You can have dramatically different results from the same capture depending on how you mix things. I get the frustration from people wanting to hear the same they do on broadcast and honestly, Codemasters should be held accountable for not delivering a closer mix, but the tv broadcast sound is just too constrained for my liking.
