Sophy is here! The end is nigh!!

Although it’s just a limited time event.  GT7 has added Sophy Ai.

I do have GT7.  However as it was boring and shipped with the usual lacklustre Ai.  I’ve played it for a few hours at most.  So as it would take me some time to get up to speed with it.   I’m not planning to race Sophy.

But as you can imagine You Tube is awash with videos from GT7 content creators taking on Sophy…. I’ve watched many and with varying levels of success against Sophy.  However the common theme is Sophy is awesome.   From what I’ve watched Sophy is next level.

Only problem I have.  Typical GT 2 lap short races.   Plus all the videos are by mainly GT content creators who’s only comparison they make is with GT7 current Ai.  Day and night.   No F1 creators have posted a video giving it a go from what I can find.

So interested to hear if anyone on here has taken Sophy on and how it compares to  Codies in general.

It’s impossible for a direct comparison until Sophy becomes available in long races with full grids.

But as a Racing Ai Sophy looks the real deal.

@TotosHeadphonesBasically Sophy is a virtual Max Verstappen hahaha
(and this isn't bad, Senna used to say that you're no longer a racing driver if you don't go for a gap that exists)

Hey @ScarDuck14, the AI isn't dive bombing like crazy anymore but if you follow it too closely for 3-4 corners it'll lock the brakes and go wide in the next corner haha

  • @ScarDuck14 I don't think that Sophy will make her way to F1.

In case you didn't know, Sophy was programmed by Sony AI in cooperation with Polyphony Digital and Sony Interactive Entertainment, so we will get this in Gran Turismo, that's certain.

About F1, EA SPORTS, Codemasters, and pretty much every developer prior always sticked with their custom, made for F1 games AI, which has seen a lot of changes from developer to developer, from platform to platform, from game to game. And the world of F1 games has changed drastically over the years.

@LuckyNico92 Duck is well aware of how Sophy came into existence, he's not inquiring about the odds of it coming over to Codies' F1 🙂

He just wants a comparison for those well versed with Codemasters' AI that may have dabbed with Sophy already, as he's not satisfied with the coverage content creators have put out so far.

What I've get from most videos and comments is that Sophy essentially has no chill. The way that Sophy has learned to drive is that it pushes things to the limits, whether that being in taking liberties with track limits, sliding the car and pitching it in corners at ungodly angles etc. So they have really made it more human like as to mirror what we would do when racing.

For instance, track limits in other games such as F1, the cars would most likely stay within limits and never dare to get close to pushing the boundaries due to the programming. Sophy on the otherhand will find the fastest path, even if it means putting two wheels on the grass.

When Sophy is "divebombing" it's because it will see every opportunity as a means to overtake, literally every opportunity. So in a way the aggression is a lot like how various people play online and against other human competitors. Sophy just doesn't have the human thoughts of not pulling off moves in certain scenarios that we have.

All in all, Sophy is really impressive, incredibly impressive.

Hahaha, yup so the AI coders have designed their mantra on Senna! Definitely nothing wrong with that.

Finally Alex Gillon has taken her on.  Can’t watch it yet… cooking dinner

Just watched whilst eating dinner.   To be fair to Alex he struggled stopping and turning in… But I had the same issue  when going from F1 games to GT7.
Why would shouting why won’t you stop!!! Why won’t you turn!!!

He was very impressed with Sophy… however he’s probably the worst out of the big YouTubers when it comes to racecraft.

So unfortunately didn’t really learn that much
