Stick or twist?

Never done this before with the F1 games but seriously considering going back to last years game and skipping this one. 21 was very enjoyable, this has so many issues that leave it a frustrating experience. All manner of AI performance inconsistency in the dry, op in the wet, too aggressive, r and d seems to not work properly, getting to the point where I want to enjoy gaming not constantly experiment and fiddle trying to find some sort of best compromise to make it worth my while running a career mode. My last race on 21 was 100% driver career mode season 2 race 1 with Alpine. It was great. Have not enjoyed 22 once by comparison. I will keep an eye on updates etc and I hope it improves, but it’s time to have fun again.

@Darthsausage44That's definitely intentional, the AI basically just use up whatever is left in their car up to that point, be it tire life or battery.

They only start doing that from the final sector of the the 2nd last lap, then all the way to the finish line. It's the same for all game modes from my experience, and is not affect by race distance.

I ask this question as someone new to F1, is this not the standard? I know I do this starting with 2-3 laps to go. Why wouldn't you use up all your battery at the very end of the race?

@allemands311 generally You would if you were fighting for a place but otherwise you’d keep It turned down and stress the power train as little as possible
  • @Darthsausage44 This is in my trade basket, I'm giving it another week. Honestly I love motorsport I just cba with this game. Think rather play acc on a pad or gt7. Sorry to say

@allemands311 Your reasoning is correct, in ideal conditions at least. Problem is, more often than not, drivers get to the final 2 laps of the race with degraded tyres, so doing the fastest lap of the race on that condition is something we do not see every race (unless he's 2019 Lewis after a trouble free race, winning by 20 seconds LOL)

On the game, it feels like scripted because AI can get to those 2 last laps of the race with 20+ laps old hard tyres and still manage to deplete their battery and get that extra traction and grip out from semi destroyed hard tyres, while you as the player struggles to put that much power down at the same conditions.
  • @Darthsausage44, being around for some time i've seen this before, I myself had said it before. It happens that F1 2020 had it flaws, that were fixed. Same time but last year we were having this kind of topics but for F1 2021 and now... here we are in F1 22.

I guess the games being released annually takes it toll when it comes to perfecting a game before releasing it. F1 2019, 2020 and 2021 are excellent games as of today and so F1 22 will be a in few weeks time. I'll stick to F1 22 as it's working alright for me, if anything it doesn't have a burning-eyes white loading screen and the engine sounds are more enjoyable to me.

And as a matter of "having fun", you really should focus on it and whatever works for you, just do it. Last year I was having so much fun with F1 2019 while F1 2021 was receiving patches and was awesome when I got back to F1 2021.

@dancrodrigues I’m going to stick with f122 for one more 100% weekend and see where we get to with patches over the next few days. It’s as much about not going too far into my career with these flaws as anything else and waiting for fixes before progressing

I’ve races enough with 1.08 to say I preferred 1.05 in terms of handling and wet racing. 1.08 the AI is definitely OP in the wet and not being able to change AI mid session means you have to guess the right AI before the session starts to makemit a fair race in the wet/ dry.
