@Cpayne32In real life, the drivers are very much able to change the SOC (State of Charge) of the car, though they usually get directions from their Race Engineers on when to switch the Mode for strategic purposes.
FYI: Every single real life modern F1 Steering Wheel literally has the SOC dials and or Rotaries available, and those are perfectly remodeled and put into the F1 games by Codemasters too, so having the option to actually use them is just a no brainer and would improve the quality, realism and immersion of the game tenfold.
PS: Definition of SOC: "SOC rotary switch: Controls the state of charge of the ERS energy storage system, whether the system is generating or consuming energy."
