[Suggestion] My idea for a Driver Rating Slider

Dear EA,

I don't know if one of you guys saw that post with the title "How much worse are you going to make Lewis Hamilton?", but in this very post, I stated the idea of implementing a Driver Rating Slider for F1 22 and future titles.

Now, in this post, I want to go further in depth into this idea and why it will be an important thing for F1 22.

Using the Driver Rating Slider, you can customize the Racecraft, Awareness, and Pace stats of every driver (since Experience usually depends on how long a driver has been in F1, you shouldn't be able to change it). By doing this, you can customize the overall performance of every driver in the grid. The values can be tuned between 25 and 99, allowing you to nerf overpowered drivers, or power up weak drivers. If you set the values, you can choose to apply them to one specific, or to all your current Single Player Career saves.

So, in what way is this important? Well, for one, it allows for more variety in Career Mode, as it allows you to play out different scenarios which you otherwise have to force yourself by destroying other drivers' cars. For example, Guanyu Zhou winning the championship in his first Formula 1 season, or Hamilton and Alonso battling it out at the front like 2007, or how about Mick Schumacher finally fighting at the front, just like his father did in his championship days, the list of possible scenarios is endless. To make it short, it would remove the dull, straightforward aspect from today's F1 games, in which the race results are predetermined by car performance, and not by the talent of the drivers like in F1 2020 and prior.

For two, it is a very important addition to F1 games because other EA SPORTS games like FIFA, Madden, NHL, and so on, all these games have a stat editor when you edit a player. This allows you to power up or nerf a team to your liking, and this should be the same thing with F1 games, as, like I said, it gives the whole Career Mode more variety.

The Icons should not be able to be editable, as they are famous drivers and therefore should have their own set stats, and also, the team of the drivers should not be able to be changed, because otherwise, you can just slap Verstappen into the Williams, or send Mick Schumacher to Ferrari without even playing one Career season, and that clearly is unrealistic.

Obviously, just like in FIFA, Madden, and NHL, there should be an option to download the current real life ratings from the devs, which will be vital if you play online, otherwise there will be several discrepancies with several players having different ratings for the AI drivers, so they should be at one value for all players when playing online.

Where to place the Driver Rating Slider option, it's up to you, but I think it should be in the options menu, just like in FIFA, Madden, and NHL.

This is a very interesting idea for F1 22, and I hope that EA takes it into consideration.

- Nico

(Curiosity question for everyone else reading this: What scenarios would you play out in Career Mode? Let me know in a reply.)

@LuckyNico92 I will largely agree with this one except for one bit even though i never use icons, they should be editable aswell as certain drivers are completely and utterly wrong depicted.. Senna not having the best pace rating but better racecraft than Prost is just showing a huge lack of knowledge or for example Massas pacewas quite strong in his prime he was just lacking racecraft considerably at times so its rather a 92 pace and 80 racecraft etc. but yeah the base idea is good but also asked for for years.. Lets just hope it will make it into the game at some point

Yep, this is something I've posted about a few times that NEEDS to be added into the game.

Like you say, a lot of us don't agree on the stats and many would like to play out certain scenarios. A perfect example of a driver where this would be needed is Ricciardo. If you imagine Season 1 is 2020 then 92 pace is fitting for him but then season 2 and 3 (21/22) I'd drop him back down to 84/85 (not including facility stat boosts) but if he were to move to Alpine or something for season 4, I'd buff him back to 89/90.

I mention whenever I can that permanent stat boosts absolutely need to go, but I wouldn't be bothered about them if there's a stat editor as then we could just take away whatever bonus stats they get. Like, I feel like Alonso should be around 93 pace but know Alpine gets +5 stats, so I would set Alonso's pace to 88 and when they get tier 2 and +10 stats I'd drop him to 83 etc.

Having it on the main menu would be fine (and apply any changes the same way we do current stat updates) but I'd prefer if it was in the career mode itself so we could have different stats ok different careers.

I also believe icon drivers should be editable as well. There's a few I don't agree with so I'd like to fix those too (Swap Senna's racecraft and pace, drop Button's racecraft to 89/90 but increase pace to 89, nerf Villeneuve a bit, buff Hulk's racecraft and pace and nerf awareness etc.)

I actually think we should also have an option to change lineups ourselves (as an option so that those that want it the same as now are happy too) and maybe even at any time during career mode (like being able to have Hulk in the Aston for round 1 and 2 and then put Vettel back in for round 3). That could be a way for us to have icons in the real teams too.
