Supposed to mirror real life?

Dear EA,

I have some really bad news about the game.

Over the course of my first season of my current My Team Career save, I saw something that should not happen at all.

It has something to do with Mercedes.

First of all, the Mercedes engine apparently has a durability stat of 100, which means it won't fail, right?

Well guess what, Lewis Hamilton had two mechanical failures, and two technical faults in 14 races. And because of this, he lost a podium in Monaco, he lost a win in Monza, and overall, he would've had the championship won already had it not been for those problems.

Second of all, ever since Zandvoort, Lewis Hamilton always took grid penalties, and started from further back. Like, do components fail during Practice? If yes, then I can understand why. Since that is not possible, neither for player nor AI, I would say that the simulated wear is far too high.

Third of all, and that is the kicker of all this, Lewis Hamilton is LEADING THE CHAMPIONSHIP. Like, does the game want to prevent Lewis Hamilton from winning the championship and gives him faults, failures, and grid penalties whenever it wants to? If that's the case, then that's clearly unfair, and totally unrealistic. We're not in 2021 anymore!

What triggers me so much about this is that nearly everybody in this forum says: "Well, you gotta understand that the game is supposed to mirror the real life season." Yeah, try saying that when Lewis Hamilton got three DNF's in one real life season just through engine failures.

Sorry, but the Mercedes engine wears far too quickly and has too much of a chance to fail. And if you look at Leclerc in the Ferrari or Pérez in the Red Bull - they have far more unreliable engines, and neither of them had an engine failure, even though every Ferrari powered car had at least one engine failure in real life.

So don't come up with the argument "supposed to mirror the real life season", because the Ferrari engine is far too reliable, and the game keeps scripting AI failures and grid penalties just because Lewis Hamilton is leading the championship. He's going to win that, and even if I spend 10 hours a day to do this!

    @LuckyNico92It does not mean it won’t fail. If it did what’s the point off durability upgrades?  100 just means it has all off the manufacturer upgrade.  

    Not to mention if you look on the durability graph Ferrari research’s durability over the course off the season.

    @LuckyNico92From all the time I've spent reading your posts here and on the other place, the majority of things have been complaints regarding the in game portrayal of their real life counterparts. I'm one for constructive criticism when it's warranted but really you are allowing your personal opinions on these things to really colour your enjoyment of the game. And that's the thing, taking everything into account, it's just a game.

    I know that you like to do a lot of world building in your games but surely you either suck it up and build what the game gives you into your immersion or you stop playing it, because really it sounds like you're not enjoying the game. If you're not enjoying one of the fundamental things about gaming, which is meant to be having fun, then you should stop, nobody is forcing you and you sound consistently frustrated.

    Okay, don't worry guys, there was a happy ending to it, as Lewis Hamilton placed 6th in the final race and left me with a 4 point gap to him.

    I'm just happy that I was able to replicate the result of the first season of my very first My Team Career, and that was Lewis Hamilton winning the championship.

    Still, the mechanic of getting engine failures needs to be reworked... Suggestion: Depending on the engine supplier's durability stat, the chance of getting engine failures should be reduced. So if you say go with Ferrari with a durability stat of 82, you have a way higher chance for a mechanical failure than with Mercedes, who have a durability stat of 100. Should depend on the supplier, just like in real life. I'm just saying Baku, where 4 Ferrari powered cars got an engine failure, among them both Ferraris.

    The game is what it is and the Coders do their very best to replicate engine and team performance, also I doubt at this time that there probably will be no more major updates coming so the game is what it is at the moment.
    If this game was to mirror real life then none of us would be able to drive these cars......just my opinion

    Also, as a side note I strongly believe that EA should give this game an updated engine as the present one does not seem to be up to the task now

    @Antic3 Have to agree here.. The coders dont do their best to replicate team performance etc. just try to reach a fast and AI compatible "realism".. Like Aston Martin still has the worst aero ingame and is far from it IRL, RB more than 3-4 kph faster on the straight than Ferrari etc. they just have a different goal than true realism.. Also the coders have problems of everything needing to be allowed by higher authorities to make it into the game, even if something would be more realistic, if these authorities dont allow it the coders cant do it.

    Secondly you get these things completely wrong.. Its not that hard driving a modern F1 car in a simulation/game.. Its common knowledge in the sim racing community that Codemasters games F1 cars are tougher to drive than the true sim racing games F1 cars - which iirc even real F1 drivers admitted.

    @ScarDuck14 Thats not what im saying.. But driving a current F1 car at speed isnt as hard as a 1970s car IF we take out the muscle training to withstand the forces.. Which a game naturally does :P
