Time Trial equal car

Hi, I would like to make a proposal regarding the 'equal car' in view of 2022.

I suppose that the performances of Red Bull and Ferrari will be very similar also in the game, probably with some differences (speed vs traction) as in reality. It is probable that some players are better off with one, others with the other, which in fact would prevent the achievement of the objective of the 'equal car', because each would be forced to use Red Bull or Ferrari if the equal car were the other one (example: equal car = RB while I feel better with Ferrari, I am forced to take the Ferrari to get my best time, even if I would like the Haas/Alpine/etc.)

It would be nice to study a way, for example giving two Time Trial cars (this year) to be the equal car, don't know.

Just brainstorming here while waiting for the new game 🥳

Cheers,
Nuv

  • 'Equal Car' is always balanced to make the same potential laptime as the lead car.

Player Car is identical to the lead car (deemed to be the baseline to which the performance is adjusted up to on the season cars).

Just depends if we see the Ferrari as the lead car or the Red Bull. At this point I think it is the Ferrari. The Player Car will give the answer.

We had the oddity of the Mercedes being the lead car last year, thus the Player Car was equal to the Mercedes and you could skin it with the Red Bull limited Japan livery but it sounds like a Mercedes not a Honda.

My point is in F1 2021 the 'equal' car was the Mercedes while I was faster with the Red Bull 'real' car (altough vey tight), so I always used it in TT.
Not sure if we may have similar situation in F1 22...

I think we will all have this, but equal car should be possible to get within 0.2s of your "best" equal car.

Combination of driving style and equipment may also be a factor, but not as much as driver skill. So someone else could be 3s faster or slower than you (that's what I find).

Some tracks I am also faster in RB than Mercedes, that's also possible and normal.

Might even be more than 0.2s until we find the way to be fast with the 22 cars handling and tyres.
