How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Just try to resume split screen season that was started in previous gaming session.
What happens when the bug occurs? You have to set up and start the season from scratch every time, no matter the progress done while playing in split screen mode.
What do you expect to see? Hopefully just copy progress saving funcionality from Single Player Grand Prix mode to Split Screen one, as both are mechanically the same (in terms of setting up races, tracking points scoring race by race, etc.)
Well, technicaly it may not be a bug, but still is a tiny missing feature that breaks the gameplay. For there's no Suggestions thread i'd put it right there.
To the point then - there's no way of saving game progress in split screen mode. You can set up full season of full-length races with your buddy to play through, yet there's no point in doing that at all, as any progress is lost when you want to end your gaming session. Strangely enough every other funcionality in split screen works exactly the same way as in single player Grand Prix mode (where progress saving works well). Split screen mode even looks as being thought to play through longer, multiple-race campaigns, given the session set up options available there, but - that's the point - there's no reason, you'd like to do that without saving your season progress, unless you'd like to write points down in Excel manually and make your own calculations...
The issue is there for years actually, ever since introducing split screen mode few years ago, and every single year I'm hoping for that little fix out there. The only thing necessary would be copying already existing save funcionality from single player Grand Prix mode to Split Screen one. Codies, maybe this year, huh...? Pretty please..
