Solved

unable to use radio commands on Xbox Series X

When you start the game, it even says in the bottom right that voice control is not supported.

But why is this the case in the Xbox Series X (and other new-gen) versions? In the old gen versions as far as I know it actually worked.

Even in the old F1 games.

So why is it not possible to use voice control on New Gen consoles? This is not a new problem.

  • @PauPau2908It’s not the games fault.. it’s a Microsoft/Sony thing.. Something to do with new gen…. was explained by the devs at launch of game.

    @ScarDuck14 Interesting...
    but how's to fix that? I've paid 60€ for the game and voice control is a pretty nice and necessary feature. I wonder if you can't contact and inform Microsoft or Sony about this.

    @PauPau2908Sony said months back it will be added in a future update. They never said when that update would be.  As for Microsoft I don’t know. As I play on PS5

    @ScarDuck14 Thanks for the help, but do you know, where to contact Microsoft about the problem as a normal user? Wouldn't it be better, if EA contacts them?
    Should I contact them via Microsoft Support or Xbox Support? And in which category? Questions upon questions...

    @PauPau2908 EA would have already been in communication over this. They won’t add it on this game now. With the new game is so close to release.., Will the new game have it… I don’t know

    Pretty sure that voice support is because the game uses Kinect runtimes (on PC at least) and the device is discontinued and support withdrawn on Xbox One since 2017. So it's entirely plausible that it's now completely removed from the XB1 system software and why you remember older XB generations as supporting the hardware / features.

    Sony's PS5 audio engine is AFAIK the issue with PS5. The PS4 is emulated on the PS5 so voice support in PS4 versions of the game (or on PS4) works via emulation. The PS5 versions of games don't include the PS4 version (although F1 as a series has muddied that with the Champions Editions being playable as either version).

    If you play a PS4 version of F1 on PS5 it will run as on a PS4. AIUI, the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game are treated separately on PS5.

    Disclaimer: I've never owned a PS4/PS5/XB1/XB1Series console but I have been a forum member for quite a while, so this is mostly anecdotal.

    There is a thread somewhere I made where  @issueskid13  explained it all.  But I can’t remember for the life off me what I called it😁

    @SteveJackson pretty much said it all 🙂

    TL:DR, current platforms don't support voice commands like old platforms did, its not an F1/Codies/EA thing.
