Taking Mario some time to reply. He must be typing out the mother of all TLDR’s 😂. Love him
I personally don't use telemetry so much, even on other simulators like rFactor, iRacing or ACC.
The reason is because, many times, you can do a good setup using telemetry, but rarely will it show any possible glitch in the setup options.
Telemetry and the good use of telemetry will help you setup how theoretically the car is supposed to be setup, or it can help you understand if you have understeer or oversteer, mechanical or aerodynamically, but more often than not, it will not make you as fast as esport players for example.
At high level of esports competition, it is important to find the "glitch" or the way of setting up a car that "exploits" the physics model of the relative simulator in use.
In F1 game especially, there aren't enough settings to really justify the use of a telemetry software for the purpose of setting up or refine a setup of the car. I would rather use the telemetry to find out where I am making driving mistakes, and try to find how others interpret the track compared to myself.

@DavidGG53Funny you should say that.. Was just watching a YouTube video about buying setups for ACC(not that I’ve got it). The guy didn’t show the setup that he bought but just said it’s not a setup he would ever think off using and as you say it’s a setup they use the glitch.
I’ve always said just set the car up to what feels good and go with it. - Monzstar833 years agoSeasoned Ace

Recently though, I’ve noticing things happening like inconsistent braking or sliding despite what I feel like are consistent inputs - so want to delve into the data a bit more. Also looking to optimise setups a bit more - like I’m sure I generally go for more camber/toe than needed.
Also, @ScarDuck14, (conspiracy theory alert relating to “noticing things”), I wonder if the game randomly throws in some less-effective braking/ grip issues etc…

@Monzstar83 @Meza994 has also noticed the same thing. I can’t be sure cause I’ve just started using 60fps and marcels setups as a baseline. But something feels different
- BadMayh3m3 years agoSeasoned Ace@ScarDuck14 About 4 days ago I accidentally came upon a way to set up the car that made no sense at 1st and really couldn't believe it.
Basically wings high down force and ride height low down force.
Today I set a personal best at Jeddah with 32/47 wings and 9/8 RH.
Kerbs seem to be a thing of the past so far as I can tell.
Like the guy said I would have never thought this. - Nuvolarix3 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Monzstar83 I think telemetry is very useful (especially RaceNet thanks to the "cars" comparison in the track) to compare the lines, braking points and how to use throttle. This is the most you can get out of it IMHO.
Much less about setup, I mean, if you go late on throttle or you struggle to go on it earlier for example, you may need rear downforce, you may get it from telemetry but only if you compare 2 laps of yours. If you compare with another guy, probably it's a different skill level, so you have not much to learn about setup.
I use it more to understand how to best interpret the track. Despite this I always save the telemetry also offline (PXG Telemetry) 🙂

@BadMayh3m Yup I mean be great if there was someone who knew the handling model off this game so intimately they would be able to show us the glitch setup 😂
Or just give us a little sign 🪧
Wonder if @DavidGG53 would know if this Sim God exists 😇
- BadMayh3m3 years agoSeasoned Ace@ScarDuck14 Or his alias?😉
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@BadMayh3m The guys that charge for ACC setups I think charge £5 per setup. So nice little sideline for someone 😂

- Nuvolarix3 years agoSeasoned Ace
Ouch 32-47 in Jeddah?? My PB with 13-10... 🙂
- BadMayh3m3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Blackbird90 Please understand Im not fast and this is in a maxed out car in career mode with ABS,Racing line, and Automatic transmission on controller.

@BadMayh3mDude only Pathetic 110 elitist Git Guders who have to shoehorn they are amazing into every post care. And we don’t care about them. 😁
I couldn’t even tell you any of my lap times despite tens of thousands of laps.
- BadMayh3m3 years agoSeasoned Ace@ScarDuck14 Got 2 words for ya.....THE NOTEBOOK!
Getting back to the OP this is how I refine setups....how can you tell if a change is faster or slower unless you keep track? - 3 years ago

1:28.738Ah. I see. But have you tried this setup in TT? I doubt such high downforce setup can out pace low wings setup with long long straights at Jeddah. 🤔
- 3 years ago@ScarDuck14 I’m only at 105 😎
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@BadMayh3m Because I only play myteam. I select my base setup for each GP. Do a few laps on FP1. Make changes to set up I think I need. Do practice program at end FP1 if my car feels good and I’m lapping within 3 tenths of my main rivals on performance rankings. I go to FP2 do last 2 practice programs. Fine tune settings then on to qualifying. I take no notice of my lap times or anyone else’s. Just the gap between mine and theirs
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@Blackbird90 You don’t feel the need to shoehorn that into every post like the Git Guders do. telling people who are asking for help. Instead off using their skill set to actually give any real help they say “ I do 110ai you’ve just got to get better and sweat and spend hours upon hours like I do to git gud’.

@BadMayh3m I have got this one. I asked for a sim rig for Christmas and EA gave me this instead 😂.
- BadMayh3m3 years agoSeasoned Ace@ScarDuck14 Budget Cuts🤣
- BadMayh3m3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Blackbird90 Because of the tire issues I consider TT times to be unfair imo.
If I was running EVEN cars then yes my wings would have to be lower but ride height would still be 9/8.
Wings would still have higher downforce than normal setups.
Example...just set a new PB at Australia but I had to set my wings to 24/39 and lowered my time by a touch over half a second.
The 9/8 RH is low downforce allowing me to run higher downforce on wings and there appears to be an advantage to doing it this way.
How easily I'm setting these PBs is just 1 of the surprises now add the fact I'm setting pb in an Alpha Tauri which is the 5th highest car and your talking close to a second improvement if I switch back to RedBull.
Very few things you can do that you will see these types of improvements imo. - dwin202 years agoNew Hotshot

The last version I had of this was 3.0 for F1 21. Has there been an update? This was really good!!
