I have the same issue after every game restart. I have to delete the games ini files completely, for it not to start Steam VR instead and crash instantly, leaving me on a blank Steam VR Screen. The software even starts Steam VR, when Steam is not started at all or prevented from starting via console commands.
The E.A. Launcher, once you click on Start the Game in VR, for some reason triggers the start of Steam VR runtime. The same time being unable to detect the game as a Steam VR game, because it is not a Steam VR game if you bought in on Origin, the game of course crashes and you are left with your VR googles on. And every VR user knows, that this is a chore.
Then you have to either delete Steam at all, which is a weird workaround, if you ask me. Or you have to delete all ini files of the game, which leaves you with a blank game the next time and you have to dial in all your settings in a vr runtime, which every vr users knows, is a chore too.
So basically, when I want to play this in VR, I need sort of one hour to set up the game again, and then I can play for another hour. Since I am not a kid anymore or a teenager, my time is limited.
And I do feel tricked for having paid so much money, for a BETA version of a VR game. Sorry to say it this way. It really does drive me nuts, because E.A. is not a small indie developer!
Playing AC and ACC in VR also is a chore the first time. And I spend dozens of hours to get the game working fine. But I can save my settings and with every new patch, I can tinker around with them.
This was explicitly advertised as VR, and still today, it is not even half finished. I don't feel bad for complaining about a bad product.
