@4c88f7421707dec6I didn't see your posts but the mod just has a strict set of guidelines, he's not invested in it personally.
EA is a publisher, I'm not sure if they were ever regarded as that word considering the track record back to the 90's. As for the developer Codemasters...well they are every changing, this isn't the TOCA/TOCA2 Codemasters, it ain't even the F12010 Codemasters...
Ultimately you cannot blame them, or blame anyone on an individual level there it's just how the whole system works. It's maximum profits, minimum effort. This is why various organisations, laws, acts and even government bodies exist in various parts of industry...the "gaming industry" is very young and has grown massively in a relatively short space of time(decades)....it's just lagging behind and in particular globally distributed digital products.
The fact shall remain that you were sold a product at RRP of £69.99 that within 50 weeks was no longer supported. The lack of support part is fine (though morally wrong) and not much we can do about that. Now, as consumers it can only really be about "exposure". It is a requirement of both Microsoft and Sony that a game be shipped with an achievement/trophy list, in this particular case that trophy list was unobtainable after 50 weeks, no one anywhere would realistically find that acceptable...that's also not taking into account the fact that the specific trophy was only available at set times during those 50 weeks.
It's very hard to bring shame to a corporation this size, we've all seen it and live it day in/day out really. All you can really do is bring exposure to the situation and hope that both MS/Sony and other gamers are simply exposed to it, like I've said over and over...50 weeks, no human will find that remotely acceptable. 50 weeks, 50 weeks! Always get the point across to whomever...50 weeks. It has enough "umph" to effect said humans future decisions.
I'm working on more ways that I will share on the PSN forum soon. I'll leave two bits of advice for now:
- Firstly, I would start reviewing games (that you may or may not own, myself nor anyone else knows what physical games you own) and you (may or may not) mention the 50 weeks. "I bought F12023 hoping that it wouldn't be abandoned at 50 weeks like F12022" etc etc etc.
- Secondly, it seems like on the Microsoft forums that people may be either trying to or have a direct line to a convo with someone there. Unfortunately Sony are less inclined to deal with trophy issues. There is one way that I thought came to mind earlier. Tickets regarding revenue are much different from tickets regarding trophies...I was looking around and found that the key here might be Playstation STARS. Now this is interesting because it directly affects Sony revenue(this is key when dealing with lets be honest a Money greed issue at another corp). If you haven't I would sign upto Playstation STARS on all accounts you have. The system is setup to reward points for purchases and trophies. You want to create a ticket and state the issue which is "platinum unobtainable" on a game you were working on. Now because you are using a system that generates revenue it's going to be handled by A. A different team of customer support and B. be answered promptly. I'm not familiar with their system but it's likely that volume of the same type of tickets could/would/should generate some kind of exposure to a line manager. You may act innocent in the ticket or knowledgeable on trophies/unobtainables etc it really doesn't matter the route but the destinations really is "look Sony, EA are taking YOUR revenue"....in a nutshell
I'll say again it's about exposure to the 50 weeks, it has that almost shocking factor. You may never see any results but the examples above are both very legitimate examples of using your voice in the hopes of some form of "win".
50 Weeks.
