Generally going from 21 to 22 people found the AI a bit better for the same numerical setting, so the fact you're finding it harder going from F1 2020 @50 AI to F1 22 @55 AI doesn't overly surprise me.
Don't worry what AI levels others use. Some will use higher than you whilst others lower but what matters is finding a level that lets you best enjoy the game 🙂.

@Ultrasonic_77 Started at 74 in F1 22 My Team, set it down to 71 since France Season 3, and the only troublesome tracks where I have to weaken the AI are Canada and Baku with 5 levels difference, and Hungary and Zandvoort, with a 10 level decrease. Singapore, save for Practice, is surprisingly easygoing despite all the most recent trouble in the race, where I damaged my front wing on Lap 26 and Lewis pulled away, but I managed to hold P2 with good defending against Charles Leclerc.
In F1 2020, I always play on 86 nowadays, as 90 is too hard, and 80 too easy for me. Maybe it's also because I have a guilty pleasure for F1 2020 and I played it a lot.

Both tracks are a nightmare to control tyre temps. I don’t have to turn ai down since using surface only. Ai is as it should every track. Except Spa but that’s cause I destroy all at Spa.
