What is F1 Life?

So what is F1 life all about? I understand it is about micro transactions and cosmetics. I don't mind that all but what is the tie in with the F1 game? If I gonna spend real money on digital cosmetics that last only 1 year they can better be of good use. So where would I use these outfits and when and why would I be inviting friends into my F1 driver mansion?

F1 is more of a single player experience so has this been thought trough? I don't mind spending cash but on an avatar in a racing game? There is no story tied to the player perspective that would beg for me to spend real bucks on cosmetic items just to impress Toto Wolf at the contract signing table arriving in style and therefore already pushing my worth 🤔

  • I’m sure 99% of people feel the same and dont really understand the concept. Other than to generate EA cash. The game is expensive enough as is, so i wouldnt buy any cosmetic items.

The option to choose furniture in an F1 game still cracks me up!

Do I think I'll like F1 Life? No. Do I think it has been produced with me in mind though? Nope. I'm probably at least 30 years older than the target market!

The supercar element will have more wider appeal than things like sunglasses I should think though.

I got Fifa 22 free with Playstation Plus last month, which has what to me was a surprisingly long intro for new players with a mix of cinematics and very basic tutorial stuff. See the video below for anyone unfamiliar, which at about 16 minutes in has a bit about choosing clothes which is why I brought it up.

imo it's not like the fifa stuff linked above
it's rather something resembling what nba 2k does but with less content/possibilities
    curious to find out

Yes, actually the in-game footage we've seen of the clothes elements in F1 22 very much reminded me of what there is in PGA Tour 2k21 (golf game). Here clothing does actually make a little more sense though, since you see your player wearing what you choose while your actually playing.

Speak for yourself. I get very little single player enjoyment, preferring to suffer the crushing that is multiplayer! 🥳

  • I guess it's a small step toward metaverse. Actual micro-transaction will become NFT soon and the clothes you bought in F1 life will be available in EA Sport FC, Grid, NBA 2K and all other EA franchises. As it's clothes, you will have to buy new every week if you want to avoid going out of fashion. At least, a virtual Rolex may be cheaper than a real one... even if it bought with virtual or real coin, both claim real money ultimately.

@DukeOfAntwerpFinally it starting to makes some sense. Probably will be spending loads of pitcoins for a cleaning lady to keep my driver mansion tidy for all those visitors that seem to have a key to my mansion and want to view my trophy cabinet in total awe.
