Why is the mercedes car so strong?

Why is the Mercedes car the 3rd fastest in the game and is capable with keeping up with the Ferraris and Redbulls? I just played Australia and Hamilton over took both Ferrari's and won the race. This seems really strange as the Ferrari's and Redbulls should be like a half second a lap faster than the Mercedes cars. Just seems that it needs a bit of a nerf....

Also in myteam why is the redbull engine so much weaker than the Ferrari? I feel the redbull should be at least equal if not faster than the Ferrari engine.

    @avenbufkin First of all, this is not final car performance and will get a patch.

    Second the Red Bull engine in terms of power compared to Ferrari is pretty much where they are at IRL, Red Bull just have much lower drag which gives them such high top speed at the cost of less downforce.. This is not represented at all in the game YET. Supposed to be in the car performance patch. When and how much it changes remains to be seen
