Can't log into EA servers, F1 23, Steam Purchase

Platform:Steam-PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
Summarize your bug Try to log in to EA servers in game, keeps telling me EA account required "retry/cancel" My steam account is linked to my EA account. EA app is running, everything is logged in. What is going on? I have seen a few posts about this on steam community page for f1 23, other people having the exact same problem as me.
What is your 16 digit Report Code?
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider?
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Multiplayer
Did you have cross-play enabled? Yes
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? You can't
What happens when the bug occurs? I can't connect to EA online services to use ANY of the multiplayer functions.
What do you expect to see? A working game.

Purchased on steam, EA account linked to steam.  Troubleshot through EA help website, no resolution just "we'll submit a bug report" but I can't connect to online services.  it's not a firewall issue, I disabled my fire wall.  SOMETHING is not working on EAs side.  The app isn't showing any steam friends even though I have my account linked.

I don't know WHAT is going on, but I followed all of EAs instructions to link my account.  Pretty crummy experience for such an expensive game.

  • Hi, this problem happened to me yesterday. I solved it by deleting the Documents/MyGames/F1 23 folder. You don't loose your progress but your audio, graphics... settings will be deleted. It seems to be a bug when you start the game and you close it fast (at least this is what happened to me). I hope you solve the problem 🙂

  • I haven't seen any replies from EA regarding this issue either.  No help topics have any suggested fixes from them.  The only one I've seen that had any promise was someone on steam saying they requested a refund, and repurchased through EA's app and then it worked.

    Not the best answer.  :/

    EA help tickets have just said "we'll submit a bug ticket" but there is no way to track that from a customer point of view.  Just...hoping that EA fixes it?  I'm over 15 hours on steam, and I doubt they're going to refund me.


    Pretty disappointing really.

    I got a similar issue using steam. What seemed to solve it for me was to just force stopping all steam tasks in task manager and restarting steam.

    @mz8lol If this was just a short while ago it was just the Steam weekly maintenance window and not necessarily related to F1 23.
  • Hi, this problem happened to me yesterday. I solved it by deleting the Documents/MyGames/F1 23 folder. You don't loose your progress but your audio, graphics... settings will be deleted. It seems to be a bug when you start the game and you close it fast (at least this is what happened to me). I hope you solve the problem 🙂

    This is the equivalent of starting the game in 'safe mode', can be useful as is verifying Steam files.
