Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Substitute players in game
What happens when the bug occurs? Subs won't move to lineup and can't exit the substitute menu. Happened twice. Restarted the game, played through fine. Played the next game, subbed players fine once, tried subbing again at the 70+ minutes mark and the bug happened again
What should be happening instead? Players should sub in
This happened in back to back games during the preseason tournament.
Also happening exactly like this on my Xbox Series X
It happened to me too at pc . I can’t sub my player and can’t even move him to another position and then I can’t exit the substitute menu i get stuck and i have ro restart my game.
Happened to me just now on PlayStation too. Only had the hour free today to play and all of it is lost because of one silly bug. Not good enough
In order to fix this issue. You can,
go into the seasons mode
select the affected team (that is the team where tactical changes do not reflect).
look on the bottom left of the screen and you should see an option for rest matcha squad. in my case the square button on the PlayStation 5 does that.
Go through with the squad reset and you’re good to go
Still not working, what is going on EA???!!!
I tried what someone told me to do and it still wasn't fixed.
1. Make sure have FIFA loaded and logged in on your system
2. Go to Profile>Delete to bring up the games file list
3. Delete all files except: Online Pro files and files with Career or Journey in the name
4. Log out of FIFA and then load the game again to see if the freezing issue is resolved.

Hey everyone, good news! I’ve managed to find a way to play through the bug. This will especially be useful to those that like to play manager by simming the game and making tactical changes and substitutions during the match like me.
First off, the first sub window will work just fine, use it as you normally do. The NEXT window will have the bug. To be able to make subs in the team management section this is what you need to do.
- Open team management.
- Go to tactics and DELETE all the newly auto generated tactics the game for some reason creates the second time you open team management. Delete all except your active one, then go to the squad list and make subs it”ll work now! BUT, you must manually make the sub and not use the quick sub (triangle on ps5) method as that will not work.
By doing this, I’ve been able to play without tooo much extra effort, this should do well for most if not everyone playing until until EA can put out a patch. (I’m a software engineer EA, hire me)
