DBs coverage in pvp

Why can't i switch to DBS while ball in mid air...? My opponents are constantly changing to dbs and defending but when I try I get nothing?

It's very frustrating to watch passes completed because I can't control/switch  my user.

And everyone else can is there a setting what is up.?
