When I click on to make an interception or swat the ball, the defender will just stand there. The offensive player normally jumps over the head of the defender to catch the ball. Looks like a forced interaction. I would prefer that the players collide and no one catches the ball if it that close.

For players like me that turn all the defensive assists OFF, although it's better than it's been in recent years, it's still a problem.
It is certainly baffling to click-on and the DB just stands there looking silly while the receiver is catching and running...
Here's what could help:
Turn all the assists ON. Ball Hawk, Heat Seeker, and Switch Assist... ON This will help move the user controlled player to the play where an animation can start.
Click-ON earlier... When you switch earlier, there seems to be a lot less trouble linking your user controlled player to an animation than when we switch and perform an action simultaneously.
Let the AI get it... While this is the least favorable for me, If you've set your Coaching Adjustments, the DB will perform predictably based on your request.
