Madden 24 PS4 Franchise Starting Point

I just got madden for this year. In years past I would get it later in the year ans start a franchise at the current NFL week. When I go to do Franchise it says Preseason Week 1 only. 15 weeks have gone by, I don't understand why it wouldn't be an option.
