Quarterback Scrambling (Bug/Suggestion?)

I have been playing Madden for years and it's a good game. 

It's mostly clean and I've found very little holes in the coding logic.

I noticed though there's an issue with QB scrambling. This has happened several times.

The opposing QB scrambles to the side and has a wide open running path (around 10 yards usually).  Then he throws it away. 

I've never seen this in a real football game. Is it intended? It seems like he should at least run until there is an opponent nearby, or be more aggressive if it is a scrambling QB. 

Just my two cents. It's one of the only improvements I could think of suggesting as a fan of the game.
