I have the same problem, but I think you can avoid it (at least at PS5): Only change one characteristic at a time, then save it temporarily and only then change the next one.
For the characteristics it's important to know:
- if you change the jersey numbers, you must not change anything else before saving and selecting to edit the same player again.
- I think it's the same for position.
- And the same for contract.
- You can change ratings and abilities at once.
You know how long this takes?? EA we shouldn’t have to do this!! I’ve been a Madden buyer for the last 20 something years and this hands down is the worst Madden EVER! Please FIX
