WHY did I lose because I couldn't call a timeout??!??

I literally just lost for no reason. I'm (QB) on opponent 23 with :23 seconds down 16-14 with one timeout left in the game and I run a stretch to the right. I get pulled and I immediately knew that the game was just gonna run the clock out and not call a timeout. That's exactly what happened I just cut to the animation of us losing and we didn't attempt a field goal and miss or anything. Simply just lost because this game is * garbage
