SUPERSTAR PLAYERS: STOP MAKING SEPARATE COMPLAINTS. LET’S MAKE EA HEAR ONE.

Superstar players, at what point do we actually make EA listen?

Seriously, how many years are we going to keep doing this? We complain about the same problems or some variation of them, EA tells us what they’ve improved, we buy the next Madden and then we’re right back on these forums again.

The CFB community just proved with #CFBPlayDontPay that organized pressure can actually work. Maybe Superstar players need to start doing the same thing.

The frustrating part is Superstar actually has the bones of a really good career mode. The defense is good. Honestly, sometimes it’s TOO good, but I don’t want EA making defenders stupid. I want the guys on MY TEAM to have some of that same intelligence. I’m tired of watching receivers drop balls that hit them in the hands while defenders make ridiculous catches. I’m tired of DBs getting beat and magically recovering, suction tackles, ridiculous interceptions and having a playbook full of play-action early in your career while you don’t have enough control yet to get yourself out of bad plays.

Then you have these manufactured scenario games.

The snow game is a perfect example. Increased chance of fumbling in the snow? Cool. That actually makes sense. But when I’m coughing the ball up every other possession, sometimes right when I’m finally putting a scoring drive together, while the simulated CPU offense somehow goes on a 15-play scoring drive without fumbling, come on man. That’s not weather affecting the game. That’s the game affecting ME.

Same thing with the games where your TEs are suddenly unavailable or you’re dropped into some manufactured situation because Superstar decided this week needs to be extra difficult.

Why?

Just let us play football.

I’m not asking to win every game. Sometimes I should beat somebody 38-10 because I played my **bleep** off. Sometimes I should get smoked 31-7 because they did. Sometimes it should come down to the last possession. That’s what makes football fun.

And yes, I’m winning. That doesn’t mean I’m enjoying it. Winning while feeling like I’m guaranteed to throw one or two INTs every game or waiting to see what the game is going to do to me next isn’t fun. There’s a difference between winning and actually being able to dominate when you’re playing well.

If people like the scenario games, keep them. Just give the rest of us a toggle. Let me play my schedule, build my player and see what happens without Madden constantly trying to manufacture some storyline for me.

And if you’re dealing with this stuff too, stop making 50 different posts that EA can ignore one at a time. Like/Me Too this one. Add what you’re seeing in your Superstar career. Tag other people dealing with it. Put it all in one place.

Because we’ve been asking nicely for years.

At some point, maybe Madden players need to do what the CFB community just did and stop paying until EA starts listening.

the prob goes back to that they buff the **bleep** outta of the cpu and Nerf what ever team you play for .. so on superstar Defense these guys will block like the great wall of china , and then you have the cpu O line if you manage to shoot around the edge the guy does a body morph t-1000 turn right to you and you instantly get blocked by a guy that should have the turn radius of a boat and should really be trying to block my other edge.  so then your like so what was my other edge doing oh i see he is just sitting there with baloney IQ that's why this lineman made an impossible move to come over to block me from the other side of the oline,

But then on superstar offense  your O-line is a turnstyle.  the qb is getting sacked before he even hands the ball off sometimes. The only way I've saved the QB playing on my TE is ignore my route and just do whatever so the Cpu corner cant magically beat you to your spot on the route or have the other LBs jump 30 feet in the air and intercept whatever throw over the mid can the cpu qb on your team only knows bullet pass or under thrown lob.  It seems if you do to well on a Te or WR half way in the game your QB starts under throwing or over throwing alot

  • This is hard because Superstar is so broken and its impacting so many people.  It doesn't help that a league posted an online game between  where there were 29 sacks and 11 int's.

  • Adding another game to the pile because the pattern is getting hard to ignore.

We’ve already documented the forced snow scenario and the KC playoff game, where the simulated opponent kept answering basically everything I did.

Now Cincinnati comes into Cleveland for another scenario game.

I won 62–46, but entering the 4th quarter it was still 41–31 despite me already putting up 41 points at home.

Look at what Cincinnati’s simulated offense produced:

    554 offensive yards
    459 passing yards
    28 first downs
    12 third-down conversions
    2 fourth-down conversions
    6 red-zone trips
    6 red-zone TDs (100%)
    ZERO turnovers
    26:50 time of possession

We finished with 686 offensive yards, yet Cincinnati possessed the ball for almost 27 minutes, never turned it over and scored a TD every single time they reached the red zone.

That’s now three scenario games showing variations of the same problem.

This isn’t about wanting Superstar to be easier. Give me tough rivalry games, playoff pressure, weather and difficult matchups. But there’s a difference between creating difficult circumstances and seemingly forcing a predetermined type of game.

If I’m lighting up a team at home, that should affect the rest of the game. My defense should be energized, the opponent should start pressing and chasing points, and that should create sacks, punts, mistakes and turnovers.

Instead, it feels like my Superstar performance and the simulated portion of my team become disconnected whenever the scenario wants drama.

Set the stage, then let us play football. Let our gameplay create the story instead of forcing the story onto our gameplay.

  • UPDATE from the playoffs, because this is exactly what I meant about Superstar’s simulation needing to be fixed.

Another forced snow game with increased fumble chances. I dropped the game to ROOKIE because I wasn’t letting another manufactured scenario knock me out of the playoffs.

Kansas City then scored on its first EIGHT possessions.

I had to put up 84 points to win. My QB finished with 641 passing yards, 8 passing TDs, 135 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs. That’s 12 TDs from one player just to survive a playoff game ON ROOKIE.

KC still scored 56, gained 643 yards and Mahomes threw for 526.

That’s not difficulty. That’s not competitive football. That’s a broken simulation forcing the player into a shootout while controlling only one side of the ball.

If I left this on All-Pro, I’m almost certainly eliminated regardless of how well I played QB. Superstar should not require a nearly perfect offensive possession every drive because the simulated defense has effectively been removed from the game.

Road to Glory lets the football create the drama. Superstar keeps manufacturing it.

Fix the simulation. Fix the forced scenarios. Let us play football.
