Complaint time!
Not that I expect anything mentioned here to be fixed, never has before.
You need to do something about pass catching, it's ridiculous. I've changed some settings and sliders per things I've read on here and it still sucks. It's bad enough the ball almost always pops out if you're hit when you catch it. Doesn't matter where either, that's the annoying part. A DB will literally swipe the receiver's leg and a pass caught with two hands will come flying out like a sniper shot it out. I get a hit around the hands or a real massive collision at the same time a catch is attmepted will often knock it loose but taps on the back, waist, or legs? Come on!
THEN I have receivers just dropping them way more than I remember seeing in past Madden games. Wide open, ball in two hands AAAAAND no catch. But hey, it kept the game close which gives the appearance of competitiveness.
I've also been seeing the same stupid things I saw last year where O linemen will refuse to see a guy rushing the QB and do nothing. VS a four man front I had two double teams while the 5th guy just roamed around like he was looking for a guy to block while a D lineman and a linebacker runs right past him to sack me. I'm sorry, but again the game feels like it's forcing "close games" so they seem competitive. Like I said last year, it's rarley feels like an actual competitive game and feels more like the computer controlled side gets to cheat. Never see the computer offensive line refuse to block people... only my side.
It appears that overall ratings don't seem to matter at times, either. Definitely don't matter when playing division rivials. Look, I'm a Titans fan, so believe me when I say I've seen division rivial blowouts. Typically on the losing end. Oh boy, that will NEVER happen in a Madden game unless you're on rookie mode with sliders juiced in your favor. Even then the program might not allow you to blow them out on Rookie mode... I'll try that today.
Year 5 on my franchise (I sim the first few years to turn over the roster) I'm an 89 overall, the texans an 82... I got this, right? Nope, lost in overtime 17-14 on arcade mode, all pro setting. Didn't lose or go to OT because it was a "competitive game" it happened because a bunch of wildy dumb things happened to prevent me from taking a large lead at any time. Had one play where an O lineman when out of his way to get infront of my RB to prevent me from getting a crucial first down. There was no reason for the lineman to run infront of my RB whatsoever. Open field infront of the back and here somes my RG to stand, not move, or look for a block, literally just stand there and block my RB from forward progress. Again, felt like the computer forcing a 4th down.
I seriously need to start recording games and posting all these goofy things I see happening on YouTube.... if someone else hasn't already.
I swear, it's like the computer knows if your play will win before the ball is snapped and something happens where the computer decides it WILL NOT LOSE THE PLAY. It'll force an unreal situation or some boneheaded actions to happen. Forces my team to go full stupid. Had a FB again just keep running to the sideline instead of blocking the ONE GUY needed to be blocked to gain the 1st down.
I'm mad at myself for buying the game simply because my team got new uniforms and I wanted to play a football video game with them. I guess I'll try 2Ks football ga....oh, right, you have a legal monopoly on NFL video games, somehow. Hooray for us!!!!
